i wish the topic title was hyperbole.
before the ACA was passed, employer plans could cap maximum lifetime benefits paid. generally, they capped the max at $1mil. meaning that if insurance paid out over $1mil during your lifetime they could drop you from coverage. insurance companies are the suck.
this doesn't affect many people. the people it does affect are those with chronic conditions, or catastrophic life events.
my son spent the first 6 months of his life in the NICU. insurance paid millions. without the ACA safeguard, he would have been dropped from coverage for life.
the House is gutting this. or at the very least, giving states the option to gut it, and ultimately it is up to the employer to choose if the states gut it.
i don't care where your political affiliation lies. protecting Americans from insurance greed is something we should all agree on. this is not about the debate about whether we should all pay for everyone else's healthcare.
