Well, did you think Mack was a great HC, you like what you’re seeing with Sark? Both were coordinators. I think it’s ok for OU fans to be hopeful, for each Muschamp and Strong there’s a Brown and Stoops, Hall of Fame coaches btw
And for each Brown and Stoops there’s a Gibbs, Schellenberger, or John Blake. There’s a reason the turnover rate for coaches every year is near 20%.

We have no other choice than to play a freshman be it Ewers or Murphy. Card is not going to cut it. People talk about AR or ISU but he put us in a hole against KS that we couldn't get out of. I'll be surprised if Murphy isn't backup by the first game.
We saw what Card can do as a rs freshman behind an unbelievably bad OL. He is now a 21 year old rs sophomore. Doesn’t make sense to me to put in an 18 /19 yo who has not been tested in D1. All you have seen is highlights of them coming from a tradtionally good stacked high school. I am not against playing freshman, but only if they have clearly out worked and beaten out the upperclassman in practice. The maturity and experience of the upperclaasman has value. If they are indiatinguishable in practice, you gotta go with experience, imo. I know the other school of thought is to go with the youner guy if equal, but I didn’t believe in it when Strong implemented that and don’t believe in it now. I don’t think it is a dumb idea, I just simply disagree in that philosophy.

Well I mean we could lump your coach in there after that stellar season he had last year but we're not right? Why is that? I'll tell you why, I actually think he's a pretty good coach but that's judging off his success as a Coordinator so....

I think Sark is a pretty good coach that has taken over 3 programs that were at absolute rock bottom. Washington was 0-12 the year prior to his arrival. The 2 years after he left USC they won 10 and 11 games and those were all Sark’s recruits essentially. Our program has been in shambles for 10+ years now.

I’m not ready to buy into him as being the next great coach here but I do feel like he’s got something brewing. It reminds me of when Mack took over and started recruiting elite talent year after year.

His overall record is 51-42. It’s not great but it’s not terrible considering the circumstances of the programs he has taken over.

Well, let's be honest here, Texas has struggled mightily over the last 10 years but it's not due to not having the talent, UT has recruited very well over that 10 year period which is why 5-7 last year had alot of folks raising eyebrows at Sark.

He just turned 19 a few months ago. This should be his true freshman year but he graduated high school a year early.
The need to make him stay after practice and run plays until he figures the shit out. This isn't recreational football for fun.

Can we get this thread back on track? This team is young and has a ton of NFL talent. It's going to take a couple of SEASONS to get it on track. I know we are invested for the long haul on Sarkesian as long as he has an above .500 season this year.

Honestly the recruiting has been up and down.

2013-17th ranked class
2014-17th ranked class
2015-10th ranked class
2016-7th ranked class
2017-25th ranked class
2018-3rd ranked class
2019-3rd ranked class
2020-8th ranked class
2021-15th ranked class

This isn't figuring all the attrition from these classes as well. From that 2019 class, only 5 guys remain from it.

The recruiting was pretty bad by Texas Standards under Charlie Strong. Herman was a pretty good recruiter and had some decent results like the 2018 season. His problem was recruiting the trenches though. Sark has already recruited more offensive lineman in 2 years than Herman did in 5 years. That's the difference right there. Then on top of that Ewers is the first elite QB we have recruited since Garrett Gilbert in 2009.

Ha well I think he’s older than 18 but they are both paid athletes, no excuses for not being prepared
The f are you talking about. Money doesn't dictate reps. Brand new play book. Most freshman don't come in right away and have a playbook like sarks immediately mastered...again you've been on your troll game hard lately..I usually see some legit comments in your post but lordy...

Looks like Agiye Hall was arrested last night. Looks like he took a boot off of his car and that's what they got him for.

Yep.......Saban sent him packing so if Saban can't keep you on the path then we sure won't...........

Dude it goes for every team, OU included, these guys are paid now, in my book the criticism is justified and excuses that used to fly for these players aren’t going to work as much. Yeah they’re paid now and with being paid comes an expectation of performance. I’m not saying he should know the whole playbook.

Just like the player that started the whole Cale Gundy fiasco, I don’t look at him as a kid just funnin’ around, I see it as a paid player dicking around in a business meeting on his OU issued IPad and writing crap he shouldn’t, I think he should be runoff as well.

He hasn't taken a snap on the field yet and all practices are closed to the media and the public. Nobody truly knows if this is the case. Maybe save the criticism until he takes the field and plays an actual game. Until then it's all a bunch of speculation.

I mean all he did was take a boot off of his car. That's not enough to kick him off the team in my opinion.
Being arrested, after leaving your last team for attitude problems...that's definitely enough. He should already be on his last strike coming in. Problem players. May not be a huge law he broke but he still just got arrest 2 weeks into the season..

What criticism? I think you’re projecting your bs on the wrong poster. I simply replied saying maybe he should have had a study clause in his NIL deal, I never said he doesn’t know the playbook. Perhaps you should address the poster who is criticizing him.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a suspension. I just don't think the crime fits being kicked off the team.

Is that not criticism??

I think you overestimate the negative impact Captain Douche had on the program

Go back and look at what I was responding to, talk about being hypocritical lol
I literally only stated that ewers wasn't getting the playbook down from the sound of things. Not that the kid didn't study or should be treated like he's not a freshman new to a system. You're reaching. Also you should get yourself a Texas shirt as much as you live on this board...don't get me wrong. You post some good shit sometimes but lord you're on here more than most Texas fans lol

I didn’t say it was you, go back and read what I said. I’ve been here for quite a few years and guess what, I plan on being here many more. One thing you’re going to realize about me, I may speak my mind but I’m a pretty straight shooter and I’m always here, whether I’m right or wrong, I’ll always accept criticism if I’m wrong.

Go back and see exactly who I responded to when I said perhaps he should have had a study clause put in his NIL deal. It wasn’t you. Some of you guys are going to have to chill out and realize it’s only a message board

Bruh I'm aware..been on here a few years myself lol 🙄 hence why I said "you do post some good shit now and then" just stating facts that you're on this TEXAS board more than most Texas fans.

Lmao exactly. Was about to say. Literally stating maybe he doesn't study... Or maybe jack, he is a freshman and taking a bit longer to understand...like freshman do.
Coaches need to make him understand. Whatever it is they do to teach the offense they need to be doing more of it.
