With the talent we're getting, simplify. Student body left and student body right worked for USC because they had quality talent. Use the best talent even if it means skipping the last three volumes of the playbook.Do you go with card or simplify for Ewers if you're the coach today.
The best way for him to pick up the playbook is to actually execute it in live game action. Yes, he’s probably going to struggle early but as the season progresses he becomes more comfortable and confident. I don’t think there should be any debate about who should start. I doubt that Card is going to have that much separation from Ewers. At least not enough to win meaningful games. With the talent we're getting, simplify. Don’t sleep on Maalik. Kid is the real deal. My favorite of our QBs, including Manning.I've heard that Maalik Murphy has actually performed better than both Ewers & Card. Paint me surprised
Kai LocksleyDon’t sleep on Maalik. Kid is the real deal. My favorite of our QBs, including Manning.
EDIT: Then again, I also once said that kid from Maryland was the next VY, so take that with a grain of salt.
I can’t even remember that kid’s name now. That’s how pathetic a call that was. JFC I hope I didn’t just jinx Maalik. Smh
His arm talent is up there with Ewers. With the 3 guys in the QB room now and Manning coming in next year there's no reason we shouldn't have a damn good QB by the the time we move to the SEC.Don’t sleep on Maalik. Kid is the real deal. My favorite of our QBs, including Manning.

Malik is gone after this year. No way he rides pine his whole careerHis arm talent is up there with Ewers. With the 3 guys in the QB room now and Manning coming in next year there's no reason we shouldn't have a damn good QB by the the time we move to the SEC.
What if he’s not the one riding pine?Malik is gone after this year. No way he rides pine his whole career
No he's not. He still committed knowing Ewers was coming as well. He wants to play for Sark. Not every kid wants to transfer out at the sign of adversity. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays through next year and beats Arch out in 2024. He's that talented I think. He would only be a redshirt sophomore at that point and still have 3 years left.Malik is gone after this year. No way he rides pine his whole career
So you think Arch is going to ride pine? No. Ewers is your qb and then Arch is your qb come hell or high water, not saying that necessarily right but it’s how it’s going to be. Card will be the notebook holder. Malik will transfer out and be given a starting job elsewhere. Who could blame himNo he's not. He still committed knowing Ewers was coming as well. He's already said he doesn't mind redshirting for a year. Like I said, not every QB wants to transfer out if they don't get the job in year 1.So you think Arch is going to ride pine? No
I said he’d transfer next year, that would be after his redshirt freshman year. I’m telling you NIL is going to dictate a lot as far as who the starters are barring catastrophic losses. I don’t like how NIL will dictate things but it will. He's already said he doesn't mind redshirting for a year. Like I said, not every QB wants to transfer out if they don't get the job in year 1.
Malik has a lot of talent and he’s bigMalik will not sit behind Ewers and Arch after this season. He either earns a starting spot by being the best one or he transfers. He's not going to waste his eligibility on the bench. No QB will... on any team, and this is nothing new.
He'll sit behind them for a year or 2. Mac Jones sat behind Tua and Jalen Hurts for 4 years and then played 1 season and was drafted in the first round last season. There's other examples as well. He's still wet behind the ears. Give him a break. I doubt he is partying after practice. It will take time to get the playbook down and actually go through the plays in live action. This Saturdays scrimmage will tell all I think

Sark also had Matt Cassell who sat behind Matt Leinart and only threw 33 passes in college and was still drafted in the 7th round. These kids came here because they want to be developed by Sark. They aren't going to transfer out after one season. All it takes is one injury and he's throw into action.

NIL. Money talking to these kids and someone will pay him. The others you mentioned did not play under NIL and transfer portal as it is nowHe'll sit behind them for a year or 2. No, absolutely recruit the best qb’s but just don’t expect them to ride pine in the era of transfer portal and NILSo don’t recruit the best QB every year? Lol
Cream will rise. If Sark continues putting QBs into the league then it will work itself out.
The transfer portal has always been a thing. The only thing that changed was the eligibility immediately after your first transfer (unless you were already a graduate). Bryce Young was the number 1 QB in the nation. He came in and sat behind Mac Jones for a year and redshirted. Came out next year and won the Heisman. Same with Stroud at Ohio State minus the Heisman. I agree but Malik isn’t going to redshirt and then start. Ewers will play 2 years and the Arch takes over as a redshirt freshman. That’s pretty much written in stone. Now if Malik decides to stay through all of that then more power to him but imo he has too much talent to be wasted riding pine. The transfer portal has always been a thing. I would be really surprised if Malik transfers out after this year.
That's if Arch is the better QB. At that point Malik will have 2 years in the system and might win the job over Arch. Sark isn't just going to hand the job over to Arch. I think with Malik's trajectory it's not crazy to think that this might happen.I agree but Malik isn’t going to redshirt and then start. Red McCombs isn’t going to have his large investment riding pine. That’s being very blunt. Arch will be the starter after Ewers barring a total meltdown on Arch’s behalf. Book it. Red McCombs isn't going to be the one deciding who is the better QB as much as you would like to think that. And then Red keeps his wallet in his pocket and watches Sark struggle recruiting the next year.Red McCombs isn't going to be the one deciding who is the better QB as much as you would like to think that. Sark is going to play the best kid.
That’s right. I hate it but there’s no doubt it will be a double edged swordAnd then Red keeps his wallet in his pocket and watches Sark struggle recruiting the next year.
I'm of the belief that a program will only have three scholarship QBs. Any more than that and someone leaves and it will work out to something similar to below. So don’t recruit the best QB every year? Lol
