Pretty decent half offensively. What a shot by Carr to end the half! These refs are terrible. Calling a ton of ticky tack BS.
Timmy Allen has to help out Jones in the 2nd half. They can’t guard him. Time for him to take over.
This is one of the better games we’ve played all year. Nice to see Carr step up and contribute offensively and good effort getting the ball to the big guys. They can’t guard out bigs

I count this season a success. Beat a #1 seed (KU), ranked, and win a game in the tourney. Anything else this year is gravy. KCHirn still has to denigrate a good win in the tournament. UT will lose in this tournament, and you will be able to thump yourself chest and say you were right.
Up 14 with a minute to go, that's the only way VT could get back in the game-- don't run the risk of the call

Our first tournament win in 8 years. Beard did it in his first season. Shaka had 5 years and never could get a single tournament victory.
Excellent defense in the 2nd half. VT was the best 3pt shooting team in Division I and they were shut out from 3 the 2nd half with the exception on a late garbage three. ACC champs were no match for UT in the 2nd half. We turned up our D to put it away.
As I've said before, our defense will always keep us in the game. If I'm Purdue, I'm a little skittish. They're the top offense in the country but they haven't faced a defense like UT. Jaden Ivey will be a problem for us but Coach Beard is a terrific game planner and will have our guys ready.
This season is officially a success.

You misunderstand. I want us to be successful. I just have my doubts. And let’s be clear even though I’m not the biggest fan of Chris Beard I’ve said I think his tenure will be similar to Rick Barnes. Barnes is a HOF coach, so it’s not like I think Beard is going to be a complete flop, but he will underachieve compared to expectations(his and the fans)
it’s not a Tom Herman situation where I felt like he didn’t belong here, shouldn’t of been considered and was going to be a complete flop. Unfortunately that turned out to be correct. That’s not the way I feel about Beard. Just think he needs to improve as a coach to get Texas where he wants them to be and where the fan base wants him to get to
Has Rick Barnes ever made it to the championship game? Beard was seconds of winning it.....so did he under achieve at Tech?
Yeah Beard made the final 4 with tech, and got to the championship game. That was a great run for them. Shaka Smart made a final four with VCU before coming to Texas. Didn’t help him much. A single tournament run is not really an indication of future success. The NCAA tournament is a fickle SOB.
Shaka also gave us 6 loooooonnnngggg heart breaking frustrating years. He was supposed to bring 'havoc' but did he? If Beard does ever take us to the promise land I hope you are here to see it.
