Final Four?

My brother just texted me that it was the first tournament game we won in 9 years. Ouch. It sure is nice just to win a tournament game. The poster who said that winning a tournament game already makes this season a success is probably right.

But you heard it from me first. TX/TT for all the marbles on 4/4/22.

I’m sorry. Did you say you lost your marbles? Lol

Iowa state wins. The big 12 is showing well for itself will go undefeated in the first round if TCU wins.
SEC struggling so far Kentucky, Alabama, LSU all done.

The best of one shining moment. One of the best things about March Madness and still my favorite sports song/video. Check it out

Looks like our conference is going 6 for 6 in the first round. And TX and ISU have a chance to take down a couple of 3 seeds on Sunday. Go Big XII

Gotta give credit to Texas and Beard. They showed up and balled out today against VT.

Beat Purdue!

We didn't play anywhere near up to our potential. But we still won. And that's the mark of a talented team. It's nice to see-- if not a bit frustrating.
That was one of our best offensive games of the year. VT was the best 3 point shooting team in the country and we held them to 4/12 from behind the 3 pt line. They were the hottest team in the country and had just beat Duke to win their conference tournament. That was a good win. Purdue is going to be a huge challenge though.

Ya.... I watched Purdue and at one point early in the 2nd half they just looked like they were toying with Yale. Plus, aren't they a top 5 ranked offense?

Yup,, Purdue won’t mess around and we’ll need to play our best game of the year both defensively and offensively. We have a chance if we can keep it close up to the last 5 minutes. Jaden Ivey is the best pick and roll player in the country and will put a lot of pressure on any defense. With him, we have to pick our poison. He can shoot, pass and drive at an NBA all star level. He’s unbelievably fast and always makes the right decisions. We won’t stop him but we at least need to stay in front of him and get a hand up on every shot. He’s not the only guy that’s a problem. Their center is MASSIVE! He’s talented too but is very slow. Normally you beat a team with a slow center by running them out of the gym with lots of fast breaks but we aren’t a fast break team. We’re a half court team on offense which plays into his strength because he just takes up space around the rim blocking and altering shots. We need to force him away from the basket by making him guard the perimeter. Whoever he’s guarding needs to go outside and set a screen and make him switch to one of our guards. That’ll open up a lane for our guys to get to the rim. If we just let him sit in the paint we’re going to have to shoot lights out from outside which isn’t our strength. I expect Purdue to play a lot of zone against us. They know we won’t shoot like we did against VT. They’ll dare us to take a lot of long two’s and a bunch of threes.

UNC is a tough matchup for Baylor. They have a much better roster than an 8/9 seed. Just didn’t play consistent all year. This is a sweet 16/elite 8 caliber team playing Baylor in the 2nd round. Tough draw.

I believe they are the number 1 offense in the country.

Baylor looks like they weren't ready to play today. Very disappointing. That's what happens when you think you're entitled because you're the defending champ. They're getting pushed around pretty good. No physicality from them at all. Make them feel you!

Yeah I’m not surprised North Carolina is winning felt like they had a good chance, but winning by 22 right now is pretty surprising

Correct.

These first two matchups for us are really tough. If we somehow find a way to get past Purdue, ooh boy!
Yep. Texas is a perfect example of an NCAA tournament run sometimes depending on things completely out of your control. Texas drew what I think is one of the worst 2nd round matchups for them that they could of drawn, but because of what happened in the rest of the bracket if they can figure a way to win on Sunday they are going to be heavy favorites to get to the elite 8. Baylor drew what probably is the toughest 1/8 game and you see what is happening to them. Success in the tournament isn’t all skill. There is a lot of luck involved as well

Another 5 minutes to say it - BAYLOR IS THE DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! I love March Madness!!!

If Texas can figure out a way past Purdue their bracket just opened up. The #1 and #2 seeds both gone.

Not to sound like you, but we ain’t getting past Purdue. Y’all can forget that. Still, great first year by a potentially great coach.

We can beat Purdue. Part of Baylor's problem was the officials didn't let them play like they do in the big 12. It's just the culture of the conference. But when the other team is in the bonus with 12 minutes to go in the half, it's hard. If we can bully them on offense and make shots, we'll be fine; if they call ticky-tack stuff early, we may be screwed

I agree. It’s one of the worst matchups we could of drawn, but I guess you never know

I wish college basketball would go to 6 fouls. The officiating is so bad that with 5 fouls they have too much impact on the game

KU survives Creighton

With coach K retiring you may see someone like Bill Self pass him in wins, but I don’t think you’ll ever see a coach catch him in national titles. The gap between teams in college basketball just isn’t that wide. It’s almost impossible for anyone to with 7-8 titles.
