After watching quite a bit of film on Johnson and a little on Hookfin here's what I'm seeing.

Johnson is big. Really really big. He went to oak Ridge and ironically, my cousin was the qb for the first graduating class from oak Ridge. Prior to that, the kids all went to Conroe McCullugha (sp) which is now the woodlands. Johnson is strong, really strong. Johnson is slow---- not really slow because he does have some good feet. But he's not left tackle fast. He's got right tackle written all over him. He's a little high but he has a good punch at the point of contact and uses his hands very well. Nice long arms and what appears to be pretty good sized hands will serve him well at the next level. He's got some serious upside .

Hookfin is smaller and faster. He's also not as strong and doesn't have the leg strength that Johnson has but he is more agile and fluid than Johnson. Hookfin does have a good punch and is more aligned to the zone blocking scheme that we use so his transition should be quicker than that of johnson----- but don't kid yourself-- Hookfin is a project. However, with his light feet, he has a better shot at left tackle than Johnson.

Have heard that Hoofkin is a RS and sit RS Fr year just to spend more time with Yancy. But everyone I have heard says that if he gets where to he needs to be physically, that he could be an absolute star

Oh he's got upside in spades. He will be a project though. Johnson is just so strong that they will simply need to trim him up and work on his flexibility and aiming points for his punch and he could be ready to go.

Agree with you on Tyler Johnson, he is 100% Right tackle, reminds me of Justin Blalock.

Hookfin, is 100% a project, but I don't see him ever being big enough to be an effective left Tackle. I've been around weight rooms long enough to know that Hookfin is going to be a hard gainer. The kid has the frame of a basketball player, not an offensive tackle. I can see him putting on about 20 lbs of good weight over the next few years, but he is a guy that gains weight slowly and probably losses it quickly. I personally think he would be an amazing blocking TE, it was reported that he runs a 4.8 40, and it this is true. I think he is better off coming in as a TE.

Shepherd is the perfect left tackle, he has the body type to carry 300+ lbs, he has great feet, long arms,, he is the prototypical left tackle. But he isn't serious about the game, he wants to have fun not work on excelling

If Yancy can put weight on Hookfin, he will have earned every penny of his pay.

Hookfin was a basketball guy, which is why he is agile with quick feet, who has only played two years of football. Wonder if he can catch for trick plays.

If you look at his shoulders, you can see he has shoulders of a basketball player. This is why I think he is a kid that will be a hard gainer. He looks like an NFL ready TE, I'd personally like to see if he can catch because he has the size to be a heck of a blocker.

Is Hoofkin really 270? I saw a picture with Hand I believe and he looked maybe 250. But he looked to have really nice length. Might take a few years, but they'll get him close to 300.

He didn’t start gaining size to go with his height until two years ago. Too early to tell what his final body type will be.

What is his flexibility level?
