Houston vs OU

It actually probably will effect Texas. If Houston wins, the Herman sweepstakes gets even more pressing, and the heat goes up on Strong. OU wins, the hype for Herman might slow down for a bit.

(of course if Texas beats ND, its irrelevant)

Clob you know you care lol. Seriously, I see Ou losing to Houston and Nd winning easily vs Texas. Hope I'm wrong

I'm still not sure why folks are sold on Herman and I'm a fan of the guy.

Houston should be a top 5 team every year. Way too much talent in their backyard. All that was missing was coaching. What Herman did in one season was remarkable. Ill take UH to beat OU.

The funny thing is go read the ND board & you will see a large number of Kelly haters who think ND should hire Herman.

They want a guy who has won at lower levels & can bring something new. So I posted what Kelly did before ND & it's way better than anybody they want.

Kelly won multiple national titles at lower division football. Then led a horrible MAC team to a conference title. Then led Cincy to a 12-0 regular season (& one second from the BCS title game). That's pretty good resume for an "up & comer."

But a lot of ND fans are screaming "fire Kelly, hire Herman!"

A&M and Texas fans will be watching UH very closely all season.
Why? I'm sure some will check the score board and stats. I have no interest in the Coogs or what Herman accomplishes in the American and I'm praying the Ags keep Sumlin for a few more years.

Herman knows he can do better than collie station at this point. Even if there is an opening there which there probably won't be because the aggys mortgaged their future on DJ Rumlin and can't afford to get rid of him yet.

Predictions are easy, are you worried about being wrong? 38-21 OU
? I think OU will win but I'm not going to predict an annihilation like BBR was suggesting. I believe OU will try to keep it vanilla as much as possiblez

If he is eyeing an SEC school, it's LSU.

Scholz what is their financial commitment if they dumped him at seasons end?

Do you know? I can't seem to find it.

Not putting money on it....just saying it was out there. If UH is successful this season he will be able to pick his landing spot.

Well I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm interested in the game and I bleed burnt orange. It's on early out here in the Golden State like 9am.

Right now the biggest name in college coaching is not Nick Saban, it's not Dabo Sweeney, and it's not Urban Meyer. It's Tom Herman he's the next biggest name in college coaching the man seems destined for greatness it's obvious he's not going to stay at ougar high much longer. My Baylor family members told me that since their new ad is from Houston they hope he can lure Herman to Waco. But if they cougars beat the sooners and go on to have the kind of season they had last year he can almost pick what school he wants to coach at.

Anyway how good is Greg Ward? He's not a big guy at all. Their defense did a good job against D. Cook at FSU in the PB but can they do it against Perine? Oklahoma has a cb in Jordan Thomas who is capable of shutting down the other teams best receiver.

The only thing that would annoy me if Oklahoma won is that all the sooner t shirt fans will come out of the woodwork and find a way to get on this board and if that happens longhorn mm is going to be working overtime. I'm not going to cheer for them but for the sake of the Big XII I will be glad if OK wins and they should I say

UH got a D line player that every school in the Nation wanted.Hard for a freshman lineman to excell, but who knows

I always say it's easy to sneak up on people, but now everyone knows about Houston. They beat FSU, but Golson (starting QB) announces he's not playing two days before the game?
I have no problem with Houston, but I think OU gives them a rude awakening week 1.

Yep

I think Cali is close. Houston is probably good for 31 points.

I knew the Major was OC for Houston, but, I didn't know Oscar Giles(Asst HC/DL) and Darryll Wyatt (WR/Recruiting Coordinator) were on staff.

It's close to $20 million ($15M for Rumlin plus the guaranteed money for assistants).
Irony: Texas is a state with a lot of money. Aggsy claim of "WRTS" has been shouted from the mountain tops. Should be pocket change.

Well this is interesting. I knew Major was at Houston but I didn't know about Wyatt or Giles. I had heard that when they were at Texas, Major just flat out ignored Wyatt and Brian Harsin. Now they're at Houston together? I just read the SI pre season issue and when current Houston hc Tom Herman was at tOSU his former qb once said of him he has a way of connecting with people different from him. This must be true if these two are working well together at Houston.

Or maybe everything I heard was not true. Just what went on with that MB coaching staff?

A thought to the other big Big XII non con games next week.

MO @ WV this is kind of the other half of the a&m/TCU trade, Mizzou left and we replaced them with WV. This is the fifth year since the switch and the teams appear to be evenly matched. MO coach Gary Pickel has moved on and I don't know who his replacement is. However, I never thought he was that good a coach.

I like watching Dana Holgerson coach he really gets into it. His hair starts out nice and neat and then it's all over the place by the middle of the first quarter. I've heard his job security has never been good. His predecessor, Bill Stewart, wanted to name his successor and got mad when they named Holgerson. So he announced to the whole state that the new coach was divorced and went to a local casino and lost a bunch of money. Clearly Bill Stewart was not the great guy who everyone said he was.

WV seems to be about the fourth best program in the Big XII after OK, Baylor, and TCU. They're usually good for about 8/4 and a mid level bowl. I want the Big XII to go 2/0 agaist the SEC in non con play, this one plus TCU/AR in two weeks. So I say

MO 24

Besides us and OK the other one is KSU/ST

I think Bill Snyder is one of the top ten coaches of the last 50 years. He deserves to be on that list with men like Darrell Royal. You can never understate the history of KSU fb before he arrived there. Now back for his second stint there he has added to his legacy with a second conference title a few years ago. But Bill Snyder is 77 now and for all the great things he has done he's in danger of staying around to long and dragging the program down and no college fb fan wants to see that happen.

At Stanford you have a man who is a top ten coach and rising his name is David Shaw. Stanford had been to one RB in 40 years and since Shaw has been there they've been to 3 in the last 4 winning two of them. They've replaced SC as the top program on the west coach. They have one of the top 3 players in the country in Christian McCaffrey. I've picked them to make the playoffs and I think CM gets off to a roaring start in his run for the Heisman

I think WV won't have any problem beating Mizzou. I also thought Pinkel was an excellent coach. I also think Holgerson is a good coach, but, in this day and age, I don't get not wearing a headset.
