I know the NFL owns Saturday and Sunday with the playoffs, but it works seem moving the game to Saturday still seems possible...

The Saturday NFL games don't start until 2:30 central. The Cotton Bowl Game could be moved to 11:00 am Saturday without any NFL game to go up against.

I now it's not ideal, but if weather dictates it certainly looks like it could be possible.
