If Texas gets Hudson and Cobb

Talk is cheap. Your fellow poster stated he could see 3 conference titles and a NC before the RS of this class leave Texas. I disagree and we can put 500 per year on it. The talent has always been at Texas and what has that got you the past 4 decades? And scoreboard? That's so okie state like. You guys could care less you had an average year as long as you win your super bowl vs Oklahoma lol . Come on guys don't turn into those kind of fans. I respect Texas and consider them a big time program. I want y'all good again because it makes the RRR even bigger
I don't think 3 conf champs and 1 NC is so far and away impossible with the talent that is coming in to Texas. I never frigging said it was for sure. Entirely possible. Especially 3 conf championships. Over the next 5 years I think Texas starts hammering the Big 12. Who can stop Texas other than Texas? Not ou. You couldn't do it against a losing Texas team chump.

We couldn't and it's embarrassing. What does that say for y'all? Lol. Again I hope we both go into RRR undefeated.

SWva I promise I'm not attempting to trash y'all, but I just looked over y'alls schedule last year. Outside of the win vs Oklahoma and a beat up Baylor it was a really bad year with some really bad losses. In all seriousness, why do you have such high expectations? Is it recruiting? Because Texas has always got big time recruits . Is there something y'all know that I don't?

You better get it this year if you're going to get it. I doubt any big 12 team has much chance when you have to beat a good team twice. Possibly 2 weeks in a row the same team. That cuts the odds down really bad. This conference really stinks. They have to go for the money because the big 12 is lagging way behind on tv revenue. I'm not worried about National Campionships. I wish OU would join a big boy conference. I like good football. I like the SEC but Texas and OU home games compared to the big SEC powerhouses is not good at all. A&M has that Texas and OU don't. ACC beats the big 12 right now.

Incorrect. The Big 12 just paid out $30.4 mil a team. The CCG game adds another $2.8 mil per team. That is before third tier monies. With the CCG and third tier money; Texas, KU, and OU will all be over $40mil a year in TV money.

It actually says a lot. Like Texas has big games in them...like Texas just needs to play like that every week....that game showed a lot of these recruits that Texas HAS it in them and Texas got a lot of recruits BECAUSE OF THAT GAME! But other than that?? You are right about one thing you are embarrassing yourself dude.

My high expectations (not necessarily this year) for Texas are coming from 1. Getting an offensive philosophy that is proven and everyone is on same page with. 2. QB Talent 3. Overall Talent

Hell....let me have a run at that. This years team will be much, much better than last years team.

1.Whether you think we have a proven OC or not, we will be much improved on offense.Unlike the start of last year, we will have a good offensive line. Not as good as it will be, but pretty damned good.We will not have a total cluster**** for an offensive plan like we dide at the beginning of last year. Too damned many cooks in the kitchen, and not any of them on the same page. Less confusion leads to better execution.

2.Our defense will be better because of experience and depth. I do not expect a drop off on D line performance as some do, in fact, I expect it to be better.Ridgeway was hurt and ineffective most of last year. I dont expect him to be missed as much as some do.

3.special teams can not be worse than last year and with Duvernay as a return man, they might be much improved.

I hope you are right about the DL. The only thing I worried about was depth at the DL. Everything else we are in good shape with depth.

He didn't say it has been written, just an opinion on what could happen. And saying scoreboard isn't okie state like, it's winner like. Of course the loser, that being you, doesn't want to hear it. Scoreboard chump.

I never said anything about not caring about an average year, that's a different discussion...that's you trying to turn my attention to something else. You're a lame. OU isn't our super bowl, you're our b****, so it would be the other way around. We know who rides around with upside down Horn emblems, on their vehicles.

I'll say it again, this is the last year we won't be one of the favorites to win the Big 12.

You're most definitely trying to trash Texas, and yes we know something that you don't. We lost a lot of that talent that you speak of (see the draft, there is a clue about our talent, NFL scouts already notice the change in talent, they are just young), and we had no QB. We finally have a young QB, and a new offense to go with it. We're bringing in the talent and depth that we were lacking before. It doesn't mean a NC is coming right away, but Texas fans have reason to be excited. And we beat you chumps, with less.

Not to get in the middle of a nice OU/Texas debate, but when Dexter & I brought up NFL scouts' ratings of players/units talking Texas/ND opener most (not saying you Texxxxas) informed us that the publications & scouts don't mean anything?
So now we all agree scouts' opinions are legitimate?

Decker....his name was Decker, although it could have been Syble as he could one time be reasonable and the next time be full blown nutty.

Decker likes to beat the dead horse, that's for sure. But sometimes he would post actual real things, but then he gets frustrated if you don't agree. But his breakdown of the OLine, for example, came straight from pro scouts. (I know because I read the same article he did, but he didn't mention where he got his info from). But once you disagreed with him he goes all Rain Man with stats.

Wow, straight to name-calling, huh?
Okay.
Just in case you haven't noticed, not a single ND poster has called any Texas fans names yet.
Carry on.

Heisenberg...you are correct ( I am gonna go iron my hands for having to type that) but there is a big problem with those classes. Too many guys were ranked way above their actual playing. Bad development or bad ranking...one or the other. I like our last 2 not quite top 5 classes and I think we are much the better for them.Even I am a bit leery of calling us in a Natty and as you can read here, I am the kool aide king guzzler.

Truth doesnt have to hurt. Its okay to admit when someone is right, its fair. Yeah, maybe too many guys were ranked above their actual playing, but that's something you only see in hindsight anyway. I do recall mack having texas still winning some games before he was booted. His last three seasons were 8-5, 9-4, 8-5 and in '13 they were 1 game from the big 12 title. With very inconsistent qb play and with a carousel of coaching. Then of course in 14 and 15 we see them take massive dumps on themselves. At any rate, I dont get too high or too low on recruiting because of how often guys dont pan out. remember darius white? OU's classes werent top 5 in the last couple years but i like who we got in 15 16 and 17 a lot! gaw just get back to being good again and make this rivalry mean something again!

That wasn't the norm for Texas, when recruiting that much talent, but I expect a comment like that from you, lil mama. Texas had no QB and lost talent galore. We still ran through OU, which is the norm in the series, and more talent is on the way. This will be the last season, that Texas doesn't come in as one of the favorites to win the Big 12.

We have all seen it though. And there's always reasons why teams suck, you know your reasons, tx struck out big time on qbs; but it doesnt change the fact that they were four straight top 5 classes people were excited for. Over the past 6 meetings since the last top 5 classes took flight OU has a 4-2 advantage, and two of those 4 victories were epic blowouts: 55-17 and 63-21. so it doesnt seem your idea of 'we still ran through OU' , rather seems the opposite. But its true, in 2 of those 4 tx did win, so you gotta hang your hat on something. It's just too bad tx has been laying eggs for so long, it would be nice if they actually competed for meaningful games. You know how hard it is to get a bunch of big headed kids pumped up for a 1-4 team? It shouldnt be but apparently it is! so step it up already. What's it gonna be 7 years without a big 12 championship, 8? Maybe make it a nice even 10, that's a nice number. Kind of aggieish.

You a "wait until next year" lie. That hasn't been the norm around here, that feeling is just starting to set in. I would compare you to something pathetic, but you're an OU fan, nothing is lower than that...

...and Texas isn't OSU, just compare our head to head records against OU...big difference. We smack OU around, and we have good reason to believe, that Texas is getting back on track.

And reasonable minded people have good reason to hesitate to jump on the 11-14 train to charlieville. Hey the good news is after this year, there's a really good chance charlie will finally not have a losing record at tx.

All we need is iowa state, as long as they are on the schedule, the big 12 will be safe from texas.

So OU wasn't pumped up for Texas, huh? You have more excuses than a man going to jail. They are always pumped up for Texas, they just got ran through. And you have the nerve to call someone an Aggie. An OU fan speaking negatively of any fan base is hysterical. I touched on all the ignorance in your post, no need to repeat it. The part you got right, was Texas being bad, because of striking out on QB's. And yes, we ran through OU. Fact! If you want to go back further than the most recent game, then Texas owns the series and that's that.

Why would a ND fan be on a Longhorn site? 1. He's a undercover Longhorn fan
2. ND site doesn't have no one talking about crap.
3. He wish his school could pick up the TX kids
4. To talk crap and wants to get himself banned
5. Just a friendly poster with no harm intended.

I've been discussing Texas/ND a lot on this site (first opponent always gets the longest chatter over off-season). Not once have I said anything remotely negative, name-calling or ban-worthy.

I've been discussing football. That is the point, right?

Yeah but your overall victory count has no effect on the game once it's played. E.g. being 11-1 all time against iowa state meant squat last year.

No, I would say that they werent. They played excellently in the game before and after, so it seems like they didnt get up. Not that it's an excuse, its a stupid ass reason to not play well, but I can still recognize something for what it is, even if i dont like it.

Yes, i do have the nerve to call someone aggie. The nerve of me!

It's a stupid reason and a stupid excuse. I too can recognize something for what it is...and what you are is full of s***. Texas ran through OU, no excuses...this is where you would slide in the term Aggie. Texas almost beat OU the year before, with a bad team, so why would they overlook them. OU was bumping their gums before the game, but promptly got punched in the mouth. Game over.

Good guys don't go on probation after winning 6 titles. Maybe in Bizzaro world.

Yep, it sure is, but still, in spite of it, it's not always easy to convince kids to get that fired up to play a 1-4 team. It's insane to think but it happens. When all the talking heads and vegas are talking like OU already won the game just by stepping on the field. STUPID. just like bama kept talking about how their kids heads just werent in the game against OU. But no, im not full of anything, i recognize this happens to different teams every year. This has just been my experience, it happens at all levels in all sports when humans are involved. Coaches definitely have it on them to get their team prepared and keep their minds sharp all week long, because, hell, even iowa state can beat you 24-0 if you dont show up and give it your all.

Speaking of scouts, got my copy of Phil Steele this morning, haven't read it yet. As far as I'm concerned he writes the bible for college football scouting. (PFT for future pro prospects)

Anyone read it yet? Have any comments?

He actually rates Texas' players, units & overall team higher than any other publication I've seen.
Which is good news for Texas because his predictions/evaluations are the most accurate over the past couple decades.
