Rankings: Johnson is rated as a 5.8 four-star prospect by Rivals.com

Key Offers: Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and Texas A&M.

Evaluation: Over the last two years, no prospect in the state of Texas in the 2019 class has received as much advanced buzz as the 6-2, 185-pound dual-threat quarterback prospect. If terms of strengths and weaknesses, he's an absolute difference-maker as a runner with the ball in his hands and he hits the Tom Herman offense perfectly, at least the versions that we've seen at Houston and Ohio State. Johnson is a terror in the open field and has the ability to break defenders down in space when he can get to the corner and create one on one situations. As a passer, Johnson is still a work in progress, but he's capable of making the throws needed to succeed at a high level and once his mechanics get a little more consistent and he adds in a few more thousand passing game reps, he has a chance to be a nightmare for opposing defenses in the Big 12.

Why it matters:
Although it's still early in the recruiting process, Johnson is regarded as one of the top players in the entire 2019 class inside the state of Texas. The fact that the first commitment in the 2019 class is a quarterback and a player considered to be an absolute plus alpha-male in the leadership and intangibles department makes tonight one of the biggest nights in recruiting in all of 2017.

Enjoy: Enjoy these highlights of Johnson from his sophomore season.
