Cliffs notes: Lufkin defensive back Jerrin Thompson became the 14th member of the 2020 Texas commitment list when he announced his commitment.

Rankings:
In the recently updated 2020 LSR 100, Thompson is ranked the No. 44 prospect in Texas.

Key Offers: Arkansas, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Virginia Tech are among the programs that offered Thompson.

Evaluation: Quick out of his break with strong read-and-react ability, Thompson is a very physical safety who seeks contact. A standout in the 300-meter hurdles, the new Texas commitment shows good technique, particularly when he breaks down to make a tackle. Thompson shows quick hips and quality acceleration when needing to break on a football down the field. He could be a player that works at nickel, and he reminds me some of current Longhorn Josh Thompson.

Why it matters: Unsurprisingly, the Longhorns continue to stockpile high quality defensive back talent, and they score a recruiting win over some big-time competition.
