Cliffs notes: Texas is feeling the love from the Sunshine State, and from sons of former NFL players. Monarch (Coconut Creek, Florida) receiver Jaden Alexis became the 17th member of the 2021 Texas recruiting class when he announced his commitment to the Longhorns.
Rankings:
Key Offers: Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M are among the programs that offered Alexis a scholarship.
Evaluation: The son of former NFL running back Rich Alexis, the younger Alexis is a standout receiver who did most of his damage from the slot but also played both ways. Already a physical, muscular presence difficult to take to the ground, Alexis is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands who could profile across multiple receiver positions.
In track, the newest Longhorn has an 100-meter best of 11.03 seconds and 200-meter mark of 22.74, which shows in his good acceleration on the field and the speed to pull away from defenders. With impressive balance and agility, Alexis glides around a high school gridiron with ease and nothing looks too difficult for him.
Why it matters: Going into Florida to grab a four-star receiver with a very long and impressive offer list is always a good thing. This Texas recruiting class needed playmaking at the receiver spot, and it just added a good one.
