Cliffs Notes: The Longhorns picked up another commitment on Saturday with the verbal commitment of defensive back Jordan Johnson-Rubell.

Evaluation: I didn't find myself overwhelmed by his physical skills as much as I find myself gravitating to his overall feel for the game, no matter where he's lined up or how he's used. He looks like a future safety with above average coverage skills, but I'm not sure that he's good enough as a natural cover guy to play cornerback at the next level. Yet, he does everything well. A sure-fire tackler, who is unafraid to do his work between the tackles, you can use him in run support, blitz packages and he's a fantastic open-field tackler. He's just a damn good football player.
Why it matters: While he represents another piece of this year's DB puzzle for the Longhorns, he also represents another flagpole for the Longhorns at IMG. Once upon a time, it seemed like any kid at IMG was destined to not attend Texas, but Steve Sarkisian and his staff have flipped that notion on its head.
Expectations: It's going to be survival of the fittest in the Texas secondary, but the junk-yard dog component of Rubell makes me think he's in the mix by the end of his second season.
Must See: Junior highlights.
