Cliffs Notes: The Longhorns picked up another commitment on Sunday when Humble Atascocita offensive lineman Nate Kibble committed to Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood.
Rankings: Here's the industry breakdown...
Rivals: (5.7) High 3 star, NR overall nationally, No.92 in Texas
ESPN: (81) Low 4 star, No.227 overall nationally, No.39 in Texas
On3: (89) High 3-star, NR overall nationally, No.79 in Texas
247: (87) High 3 star, NR overall nationally, No.127 in Texas
247 composite: (.8905) Low 4 star, No.430 overall nationally, No.73 in Texas
Notable offers: Texas A&M (6/9 OV), Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU and Houston
Evaluation: At 6-2, 306 pounds, it's pretty easy to sum up Kibble's game... he liked to mash people into the ground. It's not subtle, but it's constant. Honestly, I find myself feeling bad for opposing defenders at times because when he gets them on the ground, it looks like it hurts. Although he's not a terrific athlete, Kibble shows some skill as a pulling lineman that can get to the second level of a defense and then find his way to actually getting on a defender, which is one of the toughest skills for an offensive lineman to develop. He's a powerhouse in the running game and projects as an interior player that should excel in a scheme that takes advantage of his strength and doesn't ask him to do things that aren't in his wheel house.
Why it matters: Kibble doesn't come with a sexy recruiting ranking, but Kyle Flood loves him and it's a head to head win over Texas A&M< who also coveted him. Any time you can take A&M's cornbread, the better, right?
Expectations: Like so many other linemen in this class, he might have to wait for the 2022 class to run out of eligibility before we're talking about him competing for a starting spot, so circle the 2025 and 2026 seasons as the ones where we might start to see him make a real impact.
Math: From 2002-2016, 21.4% (9 of 42) of low four-star offensive line prospects were drafted by NFL teams.
Must See: Junior highlights.
