Necessary? No. But if necessary is the standard then a lot of what they do is not necessary including the football program itself. Is it beneficial? I would say yes. These end of camp/conditioning team parties that Herman has added among many other things the staff does are not necessary but I think are beneficial for a variety of reasons from recruiting and marketing to team moral.
