Everyone would love to have Urban Meyer as head coach of the Texas Longhorns football team, at least on the field.
The problem is that I don't know that Urban Meyer still exists.
Meyer's imminent acceptance of the Jacksonville Jaguars job seems reminiscent to me of burned-out Jimmy Johnson's money-grab with the Miami Dolphins, when it was clear the guy who built the Hurricanes and the Cowboys into champions was gone, never to return. What is he really going to do in the NFL? We know he won't be recruiting, which is huge. He won't be dealing with boosters and school administrators. He'll likely just manage his staff for a few mediocre years and ride off into the sunset, tens of millions of dollars richer.
I suspect we dodged a bullet on this one.
