Jimbo to LSU

Bingo. Riley has proven himself to be a butthurt pu$$y this year with how he handled the whole qb fiasco, our defense is still crappy he's not worth 7.6 million. Who cares if you escape losses and get to 9-1. When you are 8-0 and continue to move down in the polls there is a problem. Riley refuses to get a hard nosed defensive coordinator because imo he would feel intimidated by him. He's too soft to be a championship caliber coach. I have no problem with him leaving whatsoever.

And of course Texags is speculating that if Riley was offered it was because Jimbo turned down LSU's offer of $12 mil/yr. LOL

OU could always replace Riley with a Schnellenberger/Blake type. Just sayin'.

He knows he can't win a Championship at Aggy and now has a bigger realization of how weird that Fruitcake Corp is. He went to Aggy for the money, nothing else. LSU can offer money and Championships, I say he gone.
Rumor is he’s been complaining in coaching circles about how hard recruiting Texas kids to A&M is when Texas is bad and in the B12 and doesn’t want to find out what happens if Texas gets wind from moving to the SEC and gets it together again and/or figures out how to use NIL money effectively.

Would be interesting to see who they replaced Riley with. Not a lot of super great candidates out there
I think this is the truth. Whether Riley leaves or not, outside of Aranda, who's the hot name this year that's ready for a top job? Maybe the WF coach? (ISU) Campbell's shine has lost a little luster this year. The guys at Louisiana, UTSA, and Coastal Carolina are solid candidates, but none of them should be going to a 'tier 1' job like an OU, LSU, or USC. Or if they did, it would be a pretty risky hire. Any of the 3 could be the next Scott Frost or Willie Taggert.

Make no mistake that Jimbo was their number 1 target, not Riley. I’m pulling for Riley to go to LSU. He isn’t that good of a coach. He has benefitted from everyone else being bad making himself look good. Yes, it will be because Jimbo has turned it down which makes him the number or 2 with Aranda running a close 3rd.

Yay for aggy. Still no championships, nor coming close to competing for any.
Think he was addressing that Jimbo is having a hard time recruiting. They were a quarterback away this year from being really good. If King was healthy this year would have looked different. With Weigman it will look REALLY different. He has started stacking classes and loading up in the trenches. A quarterback will make quite a bit of difference.

I hate to break it to you but the Ags are the only team that thinks their coach is worth much. Here’s the deal I have no problem calling out Riley or any other OU coach if I don’t think they are earning their paycheck. Having said that I don’t think Jimbo is earning his paycheck either. Whether Jimbo has been offered the LSU job and turned it down is pure speculation as is Riley being offered the position.

I know it doesn't mean anything...other than Jimbo is recruiting well here, just about as well as anywhere.

Dan Mullen put at Florida. Add another high profile job to the list.

awhile back I made a post college football expectations being out of wack. Dan Mullen perhaps a perfect example of that.

in 4 years
2 10 win seasons
2 New Years six Bowl games
SEC championship game last season
Our in year 4

I get that this year has been a disaster for UF, but man talk about zero margin for error

The same King that threw 3 INT’s against Kent State? Kent state!! And he looked bad against colorado.

Weigman might be the answer but as history shows, you never know what you’re getting with these highly ranked qbs. Texas and Aggie thought Card and King were the future, but this season proved otherwise.

King is a very average QB. I really don't think that a&m would be any worse or better with him playing. Who knows with Weigman. He's the next "can't miss" guy, but the reality is he's a 50-50 prospect. a&m had a QB, Manziel, and they still couldn't get over the hump. I get the enthusiasm, but until a&m actually wins something of significance, which they've never really done, no one will take them seriously. Jimbo is a lot of huff and puff and he's very pushy about getting his way. He wore out his welcome at FSU and they were glad to see him go. He's an above average coach.

There are a lot of teams changing staffs. This should be a good year for transfers.
I was thinking the same thing. Florida might of helped us seal the deal with Evan Stewart too. I think Florida was the other school he was considering. They probably won’t have a new coach by signing day I’d imagine.

the offense really needs another threat in the passing game opposite worthy. Maybe Stewart can be that guy.

King had a game and half a quarter. In Kent St 2 of those picks weren't on him. The 2nd half of Kent St was MUCH better. It was the kid's first game. Card has had much more playing time to make judgements on than King. I'm not saying King is the answer, but he is a hell of a lot better than Calzada if only the mere fact that he was a running threat. Calzada was AWFUL! To be where they are with him is a pretty good job of coaching by Jimbo.

Ok, but in fairness, that A&M had NO defense...none. A&M put up a crap load of points, but they couldn't stop anyone. I would take an average quarterback this year which I believe would have put us over Miss St and Ole Miss for sure. I am in the same boat of win something before talking. I haven't spoken on how great A&M is. I do believe very much so that they are headed in the right direction and building it the right way. I wish Jimbo had an offfensive coordinator. I do believe it is a bit stagnant and lacks creativity, but he kind of reminds me of the Jerry Jones mentality that he will show you it works. I do think with a great dual threat quarterback his offense works much better. No threat of a running quarterback like this year puts all the focus on Spiller and Achane which is tough.

I would give A&M the lead for Stewart. We will see, but there are a lot of things trending that way.

I DO think that you guys are making progress for Kam Dewberry, so that would be a pretty good pick up on the O-Line. That one has a long way to go, but that would be good for you guys.

Sounds like Sony Dykes will be the choice at TCU. He’s a solid coach. Not sure it makes TCU any better than they were

Really? Not seeing it reported anywhere.
God he was horrible in Houston.
It’s Jimbo, BOB, and some one else I can’t remember and supposedly in that order. I don’t see Jimbo leaving.

now I can’t find the article. It could be BS but it would be funny!

Stewart is probably the best WR in the class but I'm not sure he is the right type of player we need right now. He opted out of his senior year for some reason, he seems like a me first guy that will bail at the first sign of trouble. We have a culture problem and Sark needs to make that top priority by getting guys that he can trust and count on and not just chase stars.

God he was horrible in Houston.
He was a decent coach but should have never had the power of being the GM. He made some horrible personnel decisions. The Texans were above .500 5 of his 7 seasons he was there. He's a really good offensive mind.

USC pooped the bed over 5 years ago when the didn't hire Jeff Fisher. Dude would have killed it there. Been like Pete Carroll. But the game has passed him by now.

I’ll give you that about offensive mind, and most definitely should not have been GM.

I think if he wasn't given GM powers there he's probably still the coach.
He clearly struggled to relate with star players. As GM he could solve that by moving out players (via terrible deals, I might add), but without that power, I imagine the locker room (and thus the team) would eventually implode.

They finally did implode when he made the boneheaded Hopkins trade. That's probably the worst trade in NFL history. It all started with that second half collapse against KC in the divisional round in 2018 I believe it was.

One of O'Brien's biggest downfalls was when he and a player had a disagreement and didn't see eye to eye, he made it personal. Once a player crossed BOB it was only a matter of time until he moved on from that player. The two best examples of this are Hopkins and Clowney.
