Five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore announced on social media earlier this month that he was taking a step back from recruiting. The (at the time) LSU commitment posted on social media that he would not be talking to college coaches during the month of May, which seemed like a pretty big development before the Duncanville standout is expected to take official visits in June.
That time away from the pressures and stresses of being one of the country’s top overall prospects turned out to be a blessing for Texas, as Moore announced on Thursday night that he was decommitting from LSU.
Even while committed to LSU, Moore had previously trimmed his list to Texas, Oregon, Ohio State and LSU. He did visit Ohio State recently, which is notable, but the Longhorns have been long-believed to be the biggest threat to get him to flip his commitment. The door is now wide open.
Remember this quote he gave to OB from roughly a month ago following a UT spring practice visit.
“They were butting heads, they were all aggressive, everything. Everything was moving fast and I can’t wait for it.”
Moore isn’t a guy that’s worried about depth charts, nor should he be. But he’s been pretty open about wanting to play with a high-level quarterback at the next level. Seeing what Texas has in Arch Manning after Manning’s performance in the Orange-White game should only help the Longhorns in this race.
From the War Rom earlier tonight …
"(Moore) wants to play early and he cares about who will be playing quarterback with him in the 2025 and 2026 seasons. It's clear that (Manning) is going to be the face of college football. Who wouldn't want to play with Arch under Sark? Of course, he saw him in the spring game."
With Moore officially back on the market, I’ve put in a FutureCast for the Longhorns to land the 5-star talent out of Duncanville.
