Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Intel you need to know)

What will NIL look like in 10 years and how will it transform college football in 10 years?

I know it's already changed a lot but it's going to change more

Should be interesting

He's very involved in the pursuit of new NIL donors, but not at the expense of what he has cooking.

I don't say that as a criticism at all. Just passing along info.
Does he have a plan in place to gather more of the people who donate large amounts of money? Will making the playoffs help get more buy in on the NIL contribution?

I'm guessing eventually more schools will find more givers.

There will be a bigger separation between the haves and have nots.

Worthy has 8 returns.

Of the top 10 in the Big 12, no one has more than 11 and only 3 have more than his 8.

I think this is much ado about nothing
Its not. X needs to improve. He lets a lot of punts bounce and roll. When X catches them and makes a return he is excellent but it’s odd that you don’t acknowledge that he lets a lot bounce. He was better last week but the balls that hit last week happily seemed to die within about five yards.

A lot of punts bounce and roll because that's what teams are doing to negate him as a returner.

He's largely doing what his coaches want him to do.

The ending to River Kwai unassailable. It might have the best ending to all of them.
I guess I need to see River Kwai. Saving Private Ryan was an all time ending for me. I saw it in a theater with a bunch of other Marines in Okinawa and caught major shit for having tears in my eyes when the lights came on!

I’m sure some are, but i took your section to imply we need more big money donors, not necessarily related to name and likeness opportunities.
NIL is a wink wink business. The ROI comes on the field.

a. Not one that is working.

b. That's the hope.
The fact that TX hasn’t even hit their ceiling with the NIL in terms of complete buy in…and yet they’re still top 3…that just shows what a monster TX could become if they wanted…hell they could be the Yankees of College Football…

The NIL solution is simple…all those big donors paying millions for suites and other benefits need to get a refund of a portion of their donations to be then redirected to Texas One. They could also cut that annual $10 million+ payment to academics to help with refunding the money.

Of course, the Longhorn Foundation will never do this because they spend like drunken sailors and don’t care to give any money back to help NIL efforts. The tv money alone is poised to double when joining the SEC and they’ll still claim they need every dime.

Amen. The Foundation is the issue. What does that money go to!

It also shows how much can be accomplished when some people have a "get it done no matter what" attitude.

Although I haven't seen it in probably 25 years, I always liked Dirty Dozen 2. It didn't have the big named actors that the 1st did, but it did have Lee Marvin and the Lt. M.P. that was in the first one. And I thought the story was good. Not top 10 WW2 material but just a shout out.

I watched Thin Red Line in the theater and really disliked it. Maybe because I was going in expecting a war movie and got whatever the hell Thin Red Line is supposed to be. Felt like an Hollywood artistic take on war. Maybe I need to go back and give it a second try.

I wish there were more movies made about D-Day. I get that it is probably very expensive, but it is such a great feat and took so much bravery and so many great stories of heroism that came out of it. I wish the military would set aside like $30-50 million of its massive budget and make a great military war movie every year. They need the help with recruiting and there are enough great stories to share.

I felt the same way. I didn't see it for more than 20 years after it was released, but when I eventually went back to it, I kind of loved it. And then saw it several more times.

None have been good but there are great books out there. I'm not counting private Ryan because it's not really a d day movie even though the opening scene is d day

It's a good movie, fantastic ending

Also I saw Saving Private Ryan with 4 other male friends, no one had dry eyes

That movie helped me understand my grandfathers attitude towards the war.

As a kid several times I wanted to talk to him about the war, he never would talk about it.

I think it hurt too much and maybe wondered why he survived and two brothers didn't. His other brother survived but was wounded in a field and a German soldier walked buy him and shot him in the groin. He never had kids and had problems until he died.

My grandfather wasn't the one to tell me that, my dad did after I asked him some questions.

Damn you Ketch! Now you made me do some extra work!🤣 Weekly looks at punt returns.
Rice-5 punts- Worthy had 1 return for 21 yards.
Alabama-5 punts-Worthy had no punt returns
Wyoming-7 punts- Worthy had 4 punt returns for 59yards.
Baylor-6 punts- Worthy had 3 punt returns for 48 yards and a turnover
Kansas-6 punts-Worthy had no returns

Season totals-29 punt return chances- 8 punt returns-16 yard average and also one turnover.

At best, Worthy is break even as a punt returner with the negative yardage lost on letting the ball go. The reality is that the true number is a net negative.
I figured that you would appreciate this since you’re a stat nerd.
On another note, have you been given a number needed for the Texas One fund to properly fund the football program?

Well, yeah. Just seems that if big donors are already giving large sums that aren’t redirected to NIL, and the plan is just to ask for more with no return (other than results), that would be a tough sell.

Of course I say that from the perspective of a poor.

Now do it for the rest of the teams in the Big 12 for full context.

Because the data doesn't support your thesis. Only two teams in the league have more returns than Texas... 2 more.

The cast is so all-time great that it's almost distracting. It's like watching the Dream Team play hoops in 1992.

I had a bias against movies and some music made before 1980. Seemed old fashioned to me when I was a kid. Have had to go back and revisit some stuff. This looks like one I need to see for sure

I think we're going to see a good game.
As long as we come ready to play like the mature team we have seen all season. We will be too much for OU to handle. I believe Alabama is showing the Nation they were a top 5 team and We are better. OU is in for a rude awakening. Not ready for SEC football. going to Look like when Texas played Arkansas from two years ago. This time we are Arkansas and OU will be Texas

It's a bit dated. Be warned.
