sorry I wasn't clear. My point is that no matter how much people consider their school "blue blood", if the wrong people are in charge, they could cheat even if they don't have to as you say. I think this: Let it be investigated and if these things are proven true, all involved should be held accountable.

The only thing that could come back to Marichol is that he kept them money that he didn't spend on the "unofficial" visits. Not sure how much money he kept but it is an impermissible benefit and would most likely have to pay it back and possibly a suspension for a half depending on how much he kept.

I highly doubt that he is lying. His attorney would never let anything out that couldn't be substantiated through an investigation. Everything he claims in the interview happened to him. No third parties, no hearsay. Ive been around college sports. Nothing sounds really far fetched. Nothing is a major violation. Playing on a grade 2 sprain isn't a huge deal. Not too smart in the offseason but the kid included it because they thought it would help his case. Getting extra money for an unofficial visit is a violation but I don't think too serious. The practice violations are also minor. If the NCAA turns up anything else then these minor violations could add up to lack of institutional control which is not minor.

The NCAA limit of 105 came in 1973, to fund Title IX, and was reduced to 95 in 1978 and then to 85 in 1994. BTW, A&M had the most scholarship players when the SWC limits went into effect according the Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
Another interesting stat is both OU(with 89) and A&M(64)had more players drafted by the NFL than Texas(58) did during DKR's career.
