Being realistic what do you guys see as your overall record next year? I see it as 8-4 or 7-5. I like Herman but it's going to take a couple of years to get things going in the right direction. Also any word on Foreman and which way he is leaning? I think he is gone but you never know

It's too soon to make any sort of prediction. We need to see what happens with attrition. what's brought in and how the Spring game pans out.

Once all of that has taken place, you can get a feel for the possible outlook.

I had them at 7-5 this past season and they damn sure should have finished at least 7-5. Charlie lets games slip away.

8 wins, maybe 9 with a bowl. I don't think there's any hope Foreman returns. I would say the same had we kept Strong as well.

This x10

His first task is to convince D'Onta Foreman to come back for his senior year. And in that regard its similar to what Mack Brown faced when he first came to Austin when he talked Ricky Williams into returning for his senior season. He does that he's off to a great start. If he strikes gold with the coaching staff, and as TexExSpur pointed out if there is little attrition there really is no telling how many we will win.

Positives
the last two recruiting classes have been great. Were one more great class away from having the top to bottom talent that the University of Texas should have every year.

The thing that strikes me about Tom Herman the man appears to be a master psychologist. I've posted that tOSU qb Cardale Jones said that Herman can relate to every player on an individual basis. If a player doesn't need to be told what to do all the time he'll understand that. If a player needs to be left alone he'll understand that as well. But if he has players where he needs to be on their case all the time he'll do that. Hey you'd be surprised how many hc's can't do that.

It's way too early to predict a win total for next year. I agree that it will take a year or two to get a good feel for how things will go under Herman. One thing that will be expected is an upward trend in every facet of the FB program, unlike we had seen for the last three years.

As we all know the first game the coach at Texas has to win it's Oklahoma.

And guess what?

Tom Herman has already done that.

Outhere beating Ou as the Houston coach means absolutely nothing as the Texas coach lol.

People don't want to get too excited but I'm not afraid to let my Kool-aid shine through my Orange tinted classes.

Texas will go 10-2 win the big 12 title and make the playoffs. We will likely lose to USC and one school we should have beaten but Texas will end the season in the top 10 and make the playoffs with 2 losses.

Herman will make that talent grow up.

The following year, Texas will play for the national title.

Offensive concepts are very similar. Anyway we went from 92nd to 20th in total offense and from 83rd to 50th in scoring offense with a true freshman QB and Center. The 2017 roster is going to be nothing like the 2014 roster. All Herman has to do is clean up the mistakes and the offense should improve. Improve the QB play and this offense will be very potent.

If the guys Charlie recruited are in fact as talented as we have been led to believe, I believe 9-10 wins are possible.

I have my doubts though, especially the LOS guys. We really need to protect the QB better and pressure the QB with the DL.

They aren't. I mean there not as bad as 5-7, but the mystical light switch isn't going to turn on for every player in the 2015 class as they enter their JR year.

How can you not win 9 games with this roster? Can the star rating system be that wrong?

I'm sure I missed some guys, didn't add recruits except Ellinger, and assumed a position change for Heard if they don't bring in another QB. Come on. There's talent to win 9.

Stars to the right. I didn't try to be consistent with quoting the same rating system each time. Just a quick list.

If only you had held Strong to the same standard.....
Except I did. If you look back I said he needed to win 7-8 games to stay.

Once he didn't I was fine with a change just didnt think we had proper leadership to make a change.i also didn't feel like Herman was so good that he deserved the plan A, B and C treatment he got. Nice try though in your quest to lie about where I stand

You are the ONLY person I know of that would rather Strong be here RIGHT NOW than for Herman to get a shot. You said so in another thread. Do I need to show you? You said it in the thread when tcu was pillaging Texas. You said..I would rather keep Strong than for Herman to be brought in the next day.....

We all disagree with you. Quit acting like you did not say it or mean it. Just own up and move on....getting worn out.

This right here. Ryan, your act is getting old.

Not all of them lived up to their ranking. They may get better under hermans staff, but up till now the dbacks forgot how to tackle. I'm not confident in that group. I think the LB'S will be good despite not having the best year

In this league you have to be multiple on defense. Hopefully base out of the 4-2-5, with the ability to shift into an even front, under front, and odd 3-3 stack fronts. It also lets you get 9 people involved in the run game while be able to provide multiple coverages.

Just the same way this years team couldn't win 7 games.

I hope it was only coaching and the team plays up to the hype.

As crazy as it seems on the surface the Texas running game will be better post-Foreman. Texas OL should be very good and a team strength. If you're not a Texas fan, file the name Kirk Johnson away as one that's going to cause you problems. If he didn't sit out this season with injury he would have made a name for himself this season. Future super star even though all the talk in the offseason will be about Warren as the heir apparent

I believe the OL will be better....Texas does not have a back as good as D'onta Foreman. Now that may change if someone like Kirk Johnson can actually play. Johnson and Warren seem to be hurt more than they are not. A lot will depend on scheme.

Speaking of guys that keep getting hurt.....incoming QB Ellinger seemed to get hurt every game he played. Am I the only one worried about his ability to stay on the field? I realize he is supposed to redshirt, but at some point we need him to perform.

Scheme is going to be similar. If Heard is back there expect to see more read option and designed QB runs. If it's Shane it's going to look very similar to this past year.

If we go into next season with only him as our backup, yes, I'm worried. However if we get Kyle Allen then no I'm not. We have a great oline and it will only get better over the next two years.
