Nick Saban accuses a&m of buying entire 2022 recruiting class

There’s always stipulations to contracts and ways to get out of them.
And NCAA has absolutely no control of stipulations. They let that NIL out of the gate before the knew how to control it. It'll take state legislation to get it under control right now. Imo.

NCAA has no bearing on NIL. None. Nor should they.

I think what you’re thinking about is bag dropping and illegal contact. Those are things NCAA can regulate.

Maybe Aggie fans were right when they said they weren't paying their players. They just forgot to mention that to the players.

Or they lied, but there's no way on EARTH someone like Jimbo would do that, right?

....well...if Jimbo lies it would have to be a little lie....

well, he is a little guy after all.....

The Ags still don't seem to get it. While alot of them want to concede that it's a known fact that A&M had a 30 mil. slush fund some are still reluctant to come to terms with that. This attached thread revels in the fact that A&M showed the world how to do the NIL game "within the rules" which is not correct whatsoever. NIL deals are not to be discussed or negotiated until the player is on campus attending school. A&M wrapped up a tremendous recruiting class last year including (8) 5 stars by using funny money from the school 30 mil. slush fund to hold these recruits down until they could legally sign an NIL deal. The NCAA is looking into that as we speak and A&M has 5 commits this recruiting class and sitting at No. 60. I'm expecting major transfers from A&M this year as well as possibly Oregon, USC etc. due to college realignment.

LOL Jimbo is a total liar and coward. He now says he has respect for Saban LOL. Jimbo about craps his pants around the 4:45 minute mark when he is asked about one of his coaches saying players will be paid a lot of money if they come to A&M.

Texags is melting down over this. Smith was suspended and may be done.....at least for this year. With Dumas portaling out and now this, ags are in a bit of a bind. I was almost surprised at the suspension (although when you add drug possession and weapons charges to the DUI he might be going to jail).....guess this was considered more heinous than crab leg smuggling.....

So look your computer screen in the eyes and tell me you HONESTLY believe with every bit of integrity you have and tell me that OU, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State and every other school in America got ALL their recruits in the day of NIL by culture and academics of the school?? You think players commit without any knowledge of NIL BEFORE they commit?? You can keep that pipe dream alive if it helps you sleep at night. Texas AND OU are letting players know ahead of time. Always have and always will. I will still be willing to bet you A&M ends up with a top 10 class. I can tell you there will be 3-4 commits in the next 2-3 weeks. They are in great spots for Hill, Hicks, Dalton Brooks, TJ Shanahan, and there are 2 players that have yet to surface that I love A&M's chances with. Also, the season has to play out. These kids will change their minds., flip and everything else before signing. However, I'm glad you think your school plays by ALL the rules. That may make you one of the most naive people on Earth...but damn what a way to live:)

The difference is the schools you mentioned have ALWAYS recruited well historically even before NIL. A&M? Not so much. A&M has never even sniffed a #1 class before, then NIL happens and all of a sudden they have the best recruiting class of all time.

This is why everyone is calling bs on Jimbo and the aggies. It reminds me of that Ole Miss class Hugh Freeze had where he started signing all of those 5*’s, and everyone knew there was something shady going on.

No I'm not saying OU players haven't gotten NIL deals but Venables isn't calling impromptu interviews insinuating that kids are coming to OU simply because of the culture and the alumni net working either. I agree, it's basically pay to play in a lot of instances. I think OU NIL is pretty smart in paying all scholarship players a set amount, between $40,000-$50,000 per player, I think it's good for team chemistry but at the same time some of the underperformers and lazy players are getting compensated when they should be kicked to the curb instead. Obviously some of the OU players have been paid more but not ridiculous numbers whatsoever. Jimbo signing (8) 5 stars and then acting like people should just believe money wasn't involved is just ridiculous.

I'm assuming you are referring to Anthony Hill as a lean for A&M but I would not get too excited about Hicks just yet, Venables may have a say about that one.

Wasn’t Rattler making $1MM+ at OU?

I'm not excited about any of them just yet. We have 5 guys! I won't get excited about a commitment either. It's better to have them than not, but this day and age kids are flipping right and left. I will say that Hicks to me has cooled more than I would like him to. He still has made a lot of stops in College Station but OU has heated up with him. Texas has made a good run at Anthony Hill as well.

As for Jimbo and the money, I will say that I'm not sure what coaches are supposed to say these days. Money is a part of all recruits these days, but I don't expect coaches to say yep it's all about the money honey! I think they still try and recruit the hell out of these guys and probably get offended when people say the ONLY reason. A&M has still always recruited well and Jimbo has had A&M in the top 10. I will say that class had MANY leans for since the sophomore years. Walter Nolan and Shemar Stewart seemed to come out of nowhere so I'll raise my eyebrows at those, but I will raise my eyebrows just as much as some of these Texas recruits this year.

Welp, I guess we'll just have to sit back and see if little jimbo can pull one one out of his ass. Good luck aggy. 😂

Ok A&M fan, I'm going to preface this by saying there is nothing illegal about this, yet, but it just drives home the point more about how ridiculous Jimbo looks by trying to claim that money is not involved with players coming to A&M. This Nelson QB has been committed to OU then USC for quite a while now. No doubt NIL was involved at USC. Under what scenario would a guy from California and committed to USC have in coming to A&M right now other than solely for money? Jimbo hasn't developed QB's for the league besides thieving crab legs and crappy Mond. A&M hasn't won anything in the SEC and won't again this year? Someone help me out here. Is Nelson just using this to get more money from USC?

I'll explain for you in just one simple word....California state taxes!

I have to admit, if A&M stole USC’s qb it would be pretty funny, Riley has it coming. On a side note, I find it fascinating that the 2 coaches, Riley and Jimbo that have sleazed up NIL more than anyone in the country are now bitching about the nuances and inconsistencies of NIL. And lastly, Riley has lost his mind with quotes like this

Bell, your misplaced hard on for Riley is ridiculous. You're acing like scorned Cleveland fan burning Lebron's jersey after he left Cleveland. Riley is going to do great at SC, and he did great things at OU. Venables may or may not pan out. Time will tell on that hire.

I don’t see what’s wrong with this quote. What do you expect him to say. And it’s not like he’s wrong either, USC has been down recently but they won two nattys not too long ago. Most people still consider them a blue blood program.

I think Riley will do well there.

You don't say? Coming from the guy that claims Venables has a cocaine problem, I wouldn’t expect anything else. So, you'd be ok with Sark saying the same thing? Chucklz, no you wouldn't. You'd say jeez, we're just coming off a losing record season, just like USC, why doesn't Sark wait until we've won a few games this year before running his mouth off. And nice try, Riley wasn't referring to all time records and accomplishments of those teams, he's referring to the here and now in terms of recruiting and what the projections are for this year. Of course Riley will do well IN CONFERENCE, just like he did at OU, who said he wouldn't? Define "well" in your opinion. Win some conference games? Win a championship? Define it. The question is how couldn't he do better this year than USC did last year? A monkey could have a winning season at USC.

And Yeah, Riley does deserve a little karma the way he tried to leave OU high and dry on his way out the door so if he does have some players poached I think it's funny as hell and well deserved. Venables did not take 1 player from Clemson on his way out the door. I find it funny that just recently Riley was saying that in the playoff beatdowns he experienced, he had the least talent on the field. We were obviously lacking on the defensive side of the ball, I'll gladly admit that but I wonder why Brent Venables isn't appearing to have any issues getting highly ranked players on both sides of the ball to OU. Not only that he's recruiting across the whole country when the naysayers said he'd only be able to take the leftovers from the state of Texas? LOL. Don't look now but your worst fears are fixing to materialize themselves under Venables and his staff. I'm already on record as saying that OU's offense will be better statistically under Venables in his first year than it was under Riley's 5th year in what Riley himself called his best team to date. Book it. The defense will be better this year but our Dline isn't where it needs to be talent wise, next year is the year that I expect it to start looking much different.
