Burton from 24/7 says he is hearing more and more that Coach Beck will be let go or re-assigned at the end of the season.

Inside Texas has said Herman is feeling pressure from those close to the program that offensive changes are needed

Both Riley and Herman have the mental capacity to be both, the HC and the OC. Not many can.

Agree. I get that that isn't ideal, but it's not like it's unprecedented.
I disagree that it isn’t ideal. A lot of very successful college and pro coaches call their own plays. Herrman May prefer not to but his job may depend on it

Riley has had tons of weapons since he's been at OU. Only one year as head coach and OC, and that is with a Heisman QB and continuity. It hasn't been to hard for him to look good in his first year doing it. I'd say Herman has a tougher job than Riley if he were to do both.

Then you aren't following OU very close. We lost 90% of our skill players to the draft. No proven rb, no proven wr outside of our TE Andrews returning. What did Riley do? He went multiple as hell. Our FB became our best receiver for the first 3 or 4 games of the season. Riley doesn't get enough credit for his creativity and offensive mind. I believe he's the best OC in the country. And yes, having the best qb in the country doesn't hurt either.

It’s probably unfair but if A&M hires Jimbo the heat is gonna be on Herman from Texas boosters and hire upscto make changes and show real improvement next year. A new AD coming in would add to that pressure as well.

Lets trade QBs and olinemen and see what happens.

They are paying Herman a lot of money, so that should be the course of action regardless of aggy. Nothing unfair about it. If Herman wants less pressure he can coach somewhere else for millions less.

I agree. I’m not Herman’s biggest fan, but it’s starting to feel like a 3rd year isn’t a gaurntee without some significant improvement next year.

I'm not saying Riley isn't a good coach, but he has a ton more to work with on offense right now than Texas:
-Senior Heisman trophy level QB v. a true soph or a true frosh.
-Texas' best RB right now would be in a battle for 3rd string at OU
-Not a single OL at Texas would start at OU other than maaaaybe Vahe and that's a stretch (Connor missed almost the whole year doesn't count)
-OU TE >>>>> UT

Only at WR would UT guys get PT at OU but I haven't seen anyone at UT as explosive as the Brown guy for OU and the UT QB's can't get it to them anyway...Shane has no time to throw and Sam struggles with accuracy when he doesn't just bail and run.

Defense takes a step back for sure next year, don't know where the offense improves to make up ground. We need some JUCO OL and likely a QB transfer or just go the freshman QB route again and hope we signed some that can complete a pass or two. We will be playing a bunch of freshmen and sucking and clinging to the we are so young line. It's 2015 all over again. My liver sends it's regards.

He'll get 3 years for sure regardless. Likely a 4th as well. They aren't firing him after year 2 barring a scandal.
I wouldn’t be so sure... colleges are becoming increasingly impatient. Jim McElwain went to back to back SEC title games got fired after a bad 3rd season. Largely because the new AD wanted his guy

Sumlin got fired after going 8-4
Richt was let go at UGA after winning 10 games

Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Sadly, if they don't give him 5-6 years to build depth. We are looking at another rinse and repeat due to attrition. The program can't handle that and the wins will come more elusive.

I agree. We can't keep doing the new coach thing. We'll lose recruits as well as go through transfers again due to players not fitting the next new system or they don't like the coaches vision.

uh, Sumlin had six seasons and Richt had like 10...

I agree to a point. It can be evident that the coach isn't actually building anything though. Aside from losing to teams that who have their own dumpster fires burning, overhauling your staff constantly is pretty big red flag that nothing is being built. Needing an overhaul right out of the gate is another.

Nah. He won’t get 5-6 years unless he shows steady improvement. In fact if the offense is still a disaster next year and 6-6 is a struggle he could be gone. Quickest way to get fired as a HC is to suck on the side of the ball you specialize in

There is zero stability if we see Texas fire another coach in three years or less. The program will suffer a much longer drought should they do so. Now, you become Tennessee after Fulmer was canned.

Dude wasn't fired due to his record but more about what was said and going on internally.
Sure but let’s be honest if he was 10-2 and on his way to the SEC title game he’d still be there. Winning has a way of smoothing out some behind the scenes issues.

Let's put it this way. FANS do not want to fire Herman next year if we have a losing season. They may think we should but we shouldn't!
