What happened to Todd?
Austin Todd suffered a separated shoulder in Tuesday’s 9-8 win over Texas State. Todd suffered the injury diving back to first base, similar to the way he suffered the right shoulder injury that ended his 2021 season.

No timetable has been established for his return.

I don't know what happened but this is not the same team who played the first 11 games of the season. They need to snap out of it and get some confidence back.

Something is obviously way off with the team right now. There is absolutely NO excuse for losing to College of Charleston last night. Just flat out embarrassing!

Do you remember when Coach Gus use to schedule 10 home games during spring break every year and would go 10-0?

This year's schedule has been weird with Tuesday/Wednesday road games at a&m CC, SHSU, Texas State, College of Charleston and Citadel so far. In year's past, Texas pretty much played their first 15 games or so at home. Not sure why that hasn't continued.

At the end of the day these last few losses won't matter. What matters is what we do in conference. If we do good in conference we will host a regional and hopefully a super. It's not a bad thing to challenge the team early and see what they're made of. I don't remember who said it but there is a quote about "you learn from losses, not wins" or something like that. After tonight they'll be back home and can hopefully get back on track.

Thought it was going to be another meltdown with giving a 3 run homerun in the first inning. Our bats woke up a little and we lead 6-3 after 5 with Travis Sthele throwing 3.2 innings, 2 H, 8 K

Not at all and south Carolina got spanked today by Tennessee.....

And we handled Tennessee. Baseball is different than football and hoops. You’re going to lose games. You might even lose a conference series or two. But the cream rises to the top because of so many more games to play.

This team is the favorite to win it all with Witt. And still a top 8 seed without him.

Idk why they keep pitching to Melendez someone will learn quickly.

In other news Texas State went to Arky State this past weekend. The closing pitching for Texas state that threw down the Horns at the end of the game waived goodbye after making the final out to arky state and a fight almost went on at home plate with coaches and players.

Texas state also lost yesterday to Incarnate Word after getting rocked all weekend by us.....

As stated...midweek games are a crap shoot. Never know what you're going to get

8 game win streak gone....funny I don't think they used their weekend starters for that game

Elite teams replicate those kinds of win streaks. Slightly above average teams will play .500 ball and then have one 7-8 game win streak.

Take a 56 game schedule. Most baseball teams have a .500 roster. That is 28-28. You get one 8 game win streak and your 32-24. Probably a regional bid. Good teams will replicate an 8 game win streak a 2nd time. That puts you at 36-20 and probably hosting a regional. Elite teams will replicate a 3rd time and that puts you at 40-16 and you're probably a top 8 seed. Speaking about Texas here. If you're a mid-major then 32-24 gets you a 4 seed in a regional. 36-20 gets you a 3, maybe a 2 seed. 40-16 might get you to host a regional.

You just have to figure out how to get hot and stay hot. Most of the time it is mindset. But the difference in a 28-28 team and a 40-16 team is only 12 games. That is 1 game a week basically...12 games in 14 weeks. Steals games through solid defense and timely hits.
