Underrated post. Bedford makes $800K btw. Really enjoyed that 700 yds in offense Tech put on us. If that doesn't improve drastically, he and Strong are both hitting the bricks next season. Aren't these guys supposed to be defensive gurus? Isn't that their supposed strength?
I have said...and maybe you and a few others have also said this, it feels like muschamps tenure at florida. Even a little bit like stoops at Arizona, If so, next year wont be much better.
Bedford is as overrated as they come. Somewhere blh is still defending that Strong/Bedford D and calling everyone else trash. Chuckulz.
VB probably doesn't belong, but Strong is supposed to be a defensive mastermind. Does he take a hands off approach to both defense and offense?
It's gonna be an interesting offseason. Get your popcorn ready. Strong has a lot to accomplish from critical coaching hires to closing this recruiting class with good players in positions of need. He doesn't have a lot of time.
Strong hasn't done jack to earn his salary. When are we going to get a coach that actually cares enough to get his hands dirty.
Strong is a mentor to Bedford and Jean Marie. To me, they are joined at the hips. To fire them after all of the years as friends and teaching he has invested in them would be similar to selling his soul. It won't happen. If Bedford and Jean Marie can't improve the defense would mean that he can't either because they do and teach as he does and teaches.

This. They also have proven multiple times they can field a good defense when they have experienced players. Having a bunch of upperclassmen who aren't very good and a bunch of undersized freshman who doesn't know anything will not make a good defense. Doesn't matter who the coach is. They defense will be better as they gain strength and experience.
Well....they did make Edmonds and Thomas reach potential. Even big Malcomb was better with them calling the defense. They have been pretty damned good at targeting and landing prospects that can actually play. I agree that this year sucked....but I refuse to believe that the same staff that completely turned our D around last year suddenly forgot how to coach. I am not giving them a pass, but this damned running around yelling the sky is falling are getting just a little out of hand.
I wouldn't credit them with completely turning the defense around last year. When Diaz was fired and Robinson replaced him he laid the groundwork for the 2014 defense. Not that this staff didn't also do a great job last year, I just don't think the deserve the credit you are giving them.
I agree with others. Bedford needs to be shown the door too. The guy is majorly overrated.
Odd what he was able to do with depth and upper class men in 2014. I guess it's to bad he didn't get the CSU job.

Is Bedford agreeing it's one of the worst of all time?
Trust me Horn fans I can feel your pain after the last couple of years us Sooners have had with our own crappy defense. It was nice to have an improved D this year.
This year was one of the classic cases of jimmys and joes not Xs and Os. Guys routinely got blocked and stayed blocked and blew contain. DBs were in position and didn't make plays, missed tackles and didn't do a good job in run support. WE had older guys that weren't very good and young guys that don't know what they are doing. As the season progressed guys were in the right place they just didn't make plays. In the tech game both your LBs get hurt, Tank is out, Haines gets hurt, Davis is nicked up and Ridgeway gets hurt. Those guys are getting replaced with Ture Freshman, RS Freshman or Sophs.
Strong has done a poor job rcruiting the defensive line. Next year, our linebackers will get destroyed because Strong hasn't recruited defensive linemen to add depth. Injuries happen every season. Good coaches plan for them.
