***OFFICIAL Texas vs Baylol game thread***

If you think that translates to the coaches need to be fired you have some comprehension problems. You can get drunk all off-season on the burnt orange kool aid all you want but I’m not sold on this staff at this point. Coaching issues are the reason we aren’t a 10-11 win team this year. It’s not the personnel.
It’s both.

It’s both.
So Bijan only getting 12 carries against TCU is Bijan’s fault? Or the OK St. game where Sark decided to throw the ball 49 times even though your young QB is struggling?

The win today is great and so is an 8-4 year. But when you look back I don’t see how you can’t be disappointed we didn’t win at least 10 games with the way we lost some of those games.

Do I think we could of won 10 games? Sure I do. Do I think the fact we didn’t is an indictment of Sark’s coaching? No I don’t. Players have to make plays too, and how many deep balls did Quinn miss? How bout Bijan’s fumble against Tech? Worthy’s fumble against ok state I mean all those things cost us to and none of the coaches are responsible for any of that.

If you can read you’ll notice I didn’t say anything about the Tech game. And it’s weird to me that you question Beard when he had a better first season but your ok with Sark underachieving for 2 years now. I don’t get your logic or your thinking.

Even though most predicted 8-4 I would say in my opinion that this team underachieved this season with the way it played out.

It’s a lot easier to win right away in basketball than it is in football. Basketball you can have 2-3 studs and win, and your freshman recruits can come in and have an instant impact.

The reason I know for a fact Sark has us on the right path is because the top recruits that he’s brought in the last 2 years( Worthy, Sanders, Banks) came in and played every bit like high 4 star/5 star guys from their first game. That’s what fop programs do and that what Texas has been missing for the last 15 years. How many border line 5 star or outright 5 star guys have we had over the last decade where it just never clicked. This staff knows how to recruit but also knows how to get them ready to be impact players. Sark is going to be here a long time. No doubt in my mind.

When you get stuffed in the backfield on first and seconds downs or commit penalties you kind of have to throw more. Don’t act like we were gashing them on the ground. I’m sure Sark would have loved to give Bijan more carries, but we were constantly behind the chains.

There’s absolutely no reason Bijan should ever have less than 20 touches a game regardless of the run getting stuffed or not. All it takes is 1 play for Bijan to bust off a big run. I think Sark abandoned the run game for whatever reason against TCU and that cost us the game. Same thing in the 2nd half of the Ok St. game.

TCU game. We had terrible field position all game so even more of a reason to run Bijan. I blame Sark for not realizing Ewers short comings. We should pound them with the run game if we get TCU again. Ewers seems to do well with short to medium yardage RPO's. I didn't see any bombs for no catch today, at least I don't remember seeing any. We have been a different team since Sark traded the bombs for running plays. It's working.

A couple of fun facts I’ve discovered after the game:

1. Our defense pitched a shut-out in the second half other than a two point conversion

2. Jaylen Ford was a 3 star recruit. I didn’t know that. Shout out to Jeff Choate for developing this stud. Hope recruits and transfers are noticing

Jaylan Ford should be the Big 12 defensive player of the year.

So going through an analyzing the numbers it looks like going into the 4th quarter we had ran the ball 23 times for only 77 yards. Then in the 4th quarter we ran 26 plays, 25 of them were runs for 131 yards. That’s a great example of why you should never abandon the run.

Campbell didnt have pass blocking down but is muuuch better run blocking than Hudson i think. I believe thats why we started getting push in the end.

One “not so fun fact”:

Baylor: 1 penalty for 2 yards

in our defense, sack yardage gets counted into that total in college. and we were sacked 5 times. so we had actually run the ball 18 times for ??? yards. i'm guessing over a hundred though. if so, that's 5 yds a pop

Ya you’re right I didn’t account for the sack yardage but I do know that at halftime Bijan was only at 7 carries. He ended the game with 29 so he had 22 2nd half carries.

RGlll and the other guy are actually pretty entertaining. Once you get used to the corny jokes and understand what they are trying to do they are pretty good. They had me laughing a couple of times… although maybe it was because I had a good buzz at the time.
I couldn’t get past RGIII saying “matriculate down the field” every other sentence. It’s like the dude just got a book of synonyms as an early Christmas present, and wanted to impressive everyone with a new word he learned.
