Good morning my fellow SEC novices.

Today we have an interesting match up between Blueblooded basketball royalty and Blueblooded football and baseball royalty.
We also have a fvcking trap game. Let's keep our wits about us today.
Ready for your intro to SEC history lesson for the day?

Here
We
Go

For the 73rd time this season, we will be playing another A&M school.
In 1865 the Agricultural and Mechanical college of Kentucky was founded. About a decade or so later, the A&M portion of the university split and formed their own college called------ wait for it---- Transylvania University. No kidding.
Anyway-- the school was run by this dude named John Bryan Bowman. Bowman was an interesting choice because he came from a long line of, what we'd call, "bad mother fvckers" in today's parlance.
His Grandaddy was named Abraham Bowman-- ever watch that movie "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson? Mel stole some of that character from Abe Bowman. Ya..... dude didn't fvck around. He fought in countless battles during the revolution.
But HIS father's name was George Bowman. And George Bowman was nothing less than a pure savage. Ever read "Last of the Mohicans"?
Dude came over as a child from Germany and basically was the first guy that explored the Shenandoah Valley. He founded a place that became known as Fort Bowman. Dude was basically responsible for opening up Virginia and pushing everything west. He had a quick temper and an even quicker trigger finger.
So Kentucky has some VERY tangential historical ties to our nation.
Kudos.

Ironically, Kentucky played their first football game before any other school in the current SEC. Yet they've only been to 15 bowl games in their history.
Texas has only played Kentucky once before- in 1951- and Texas won that game 7-6. Kentucky was the defending national champions (in 1950 they went 11-1).
This was the only national title Kentucky has ever won in football.
They showed up in Austin with a head coach named----------- wait for it-------
Paul "Bear" Bryant.
2 years later, Bryant would be snatched up by Aggy, and the rest is history.
Also- Kentucky seems to be the first school in the SEC that allowed black football players.

Believe it or not-- and I can't find proof otherwise--- the trip to Austin has been the farthest west Kentucky has ever traveled for a football game.

Just wanted to point out that even Kentucky has won a national title more recently than Aggy............

Kentucky has an endowment of $2.15 Billion...... so, they ain't poor, but they ain't rich either.

Kentucky is also home to 2 Nobel laureates. One is physiology and one in chemistry.

Notable alumni-- this is interesting.

Want to know who to blame your health insurance costs on?
Try Humana founder Wendell Cherry.
The founder of Krogers also went to Kentucky-- Rodney McMullen. Chris T Sullivan isn't from Australia but he did found Outback Steakhouse........
18 former governors of Kentucky went to school there. Seems like it's a prerequisite.
But their bellcow alumni is none other than super liberal germaphobe Ashley Judd.
She also the woman that said, amd I quote "It's unconscionable to breed with the number of children who are starving to death in impoverished countries."
I bet she's fun at parties.

Well gents, we've nearly reached the end of our 1st season in the SEC. Let's not trip on our dicks today and close out these pesky wildcats and get ready for next week.
In case you were living under a rock, yes, we play "those guys" in "their house" over "there".
But it's all for naught if we don't handle business today.

From my couch watching what has become a shell of what College Gameday used to be......

TEXAS!!!!

From way out here in west Texas. Still in disbelief that @clob94 didn't mention anything about Kentucky bourbon (joking man).

I tried to weave it in but nobody affiliated with the University of Kentucky can claim they were the first to do it.

In route to a friendsgiving in Blanco's Brushy Top.
TEXAS!

My fav Kentucky alum would definitely be Rodney Mullen. That dude was revolutionary in his time. Btw, I never could skate. Different guy maybe? Probably. Haha!

From the west bank of the Mighty Brazos, in beautiful Brazoria County............FIGHT....!!!!

4th and 2.....and we play pitch and catch. Ugly drive at times-- but we'll take it.

Damn--- Quinn is fvcking SLOW.

That's Sark just being too cute for his own good. Jesus H Christ-- we should be scoring again right now.

And just like that, panic sets in….
Helm was open in the flat but Quinn couldn’t see him because he never read the left side of the field.
