Open Practice notes

they may see the writing on the wall.....but they will have damned little film on him. How is knowing his name going to help em?

I would guess (so just my uneducated opinion) they don't care about the name, but the actual offense & formations. So I think ND will be reviewing the OC's film from previous years of calling his offense.

I keep hearing he didn't call the offense, I guess they'll have to go off of assumptions.

Thats what I think as well.....so what matter if they have to prepare for Heard or Buschele?

I will guess the plan is to pressure either way. Either you are pressuring a true freshman in his first game, or you are pressuring someone who needs to prove he can handle it. It's a veer option offense that is on tape. It's all about execution. Just as ND's offense is on tape, regardless if Kizer or Zaire start. So I don't think either team cares about who it is, just what offense it is.

That is why I'm in the Zaire camp for game 1 against Texas. I think Kizer is better, but executing the read option against Texas is more of Zaire's game. I think having the run/pass option on every play that Zaire brings is crucial. I don't want to see Kizer try to throw it 40 times.

I'm sure they'll watch some Tulsa, Bowling Green and BU film. Even though none of those look the same.

Well, instead of practicing with 8 men in the box they will practice defending against a QB that can sling it. Otherwise, I don't think it'll make much difference. I do think that forcing teams to prepare for the spread, 18 wheeler and a possible Heard package is valuable in that it will take up a lot of practice time.

I went back and watched some of tulsa from last year. I didn't think thier QB was very mobile. I think the Eastern Illinois teams with Garoppolo are more of an accurate representation of what Gilbert will try and do.

I'd like Merrick to make a move and shore up the position.

Anyone know if this is just coach speak/motivation for him/others or is it more like real buzz?
