One of the most memorable movies from my youth. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched it or parts of it over the years. It was revolutionary for its time and who could deny:
  • The incredible “buddy” chemistry and repartee between Paul Newman and Robert Redford (that would be duplicated again in The Sting)
  • The different take on the traditional “Western” (what traditional Western heroes kicked guys in the nuts in fights, couldn’t swim, and weren’t experienced at gun play?)
  • The stunning ending
  • The incredible cinematography of the West
  • Oh yeah, and how could I forget my youthful heartthrob Katharine Ross (check out the close-ups of her in the scene clip below)?
