OT: Concealed Carry

I carry a CZ75 compact. I got one with the laser grips that are no longer made. I can put a magazine in a pie plate at 25 yards. Problem is that it's too large for me to carry regularly. Looking for a beretta 21a in .22 LR for my girlfriend, maybe a sig 232 for me.
Anytime I see the CZ the first thing I think of is the Skorpian sub compact. Think of a mac-10 that's less accurate.

I don't have my C&C but I have a Colt 1911 that I really like because it fits my hands well and is built very well.
That's my next purchase. I have my two carry firearms, but I want something that could be passed down to the kids in the distant future. Want something special. Thinking pearl handle colt 1911. More of a conversation piece than a functional one, although it would be incredibly functional as well.

What you need is a "Pimp" pistol with pearl handles...LOL

I don't think so...you have a link?

In it's original condition, the pistol had black, hard rubber grips. Patton replaced them with grips different than the usual ivory grips with his initials. This pistol had black stocks with three large ivory stars inlaid. Upon his promotion to full General in 1945, Patton again replaced the grips. These new ones had four large stars inlaid.

In photographs of Patton after acquiring this pistol, he is rarely seen without it.

Patton took violent offense at any reference to his pistols being pearl handled. He said, "Only a pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse or a tin-horn gambler would carry a pearl-handled pistol." In no uncertain terms he would have the offender know that his revolver was indeed "IVORY-GOD-****ING-DAMN-HANDLED" and with that he would turn on his heel and leave.

There were two very plausible reasons for Patton's disapprobation toward pearl. One was that Patton, being a firm believer in luck, considered pearl to be unlucky, and consequently refused to wear it. The other was that Patton, as a young lieutenant, spent many years on border patrol in Texas and New Mexico. That territory in those days was still the "old west" and many a time personal opinions were assisted with a few ounces of hot lead. Patton personally knew and associated with many of the types about whom movies are made today. One of them was a town marshall named Dave Allison who had, while Patton was stationed at the town of Sierra Blanca, killed a gang called the "Orozco outfit". With no help and from a distance of 60 yards he had shot all six of them squarely through the head. Patton often went hunting with the marshall and they were quite good friends.

Truthfully, in those "old days" only pimps and tin-horn gamblers did carry pearl handled sidearms.

Patton:
They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol.

I sent mine to Cajun Gunworks. It's got a 7 # double pull, 3.5# SA. Puts 15 in a pie plate at 25 yards. What do you carry?

Never seen Patton? OH MY!! My wife's grand father served under him as a medic in WW2. He was a tough SOB. He grew up in Monterrey and raised his family in the Barrio, south side SA. He was very busy under Patton. You have to see it. The movie doesn't do Patton justice, but still.

Glock 19

CZ makes really good guns but in their past they made some stinkers too. I guess every company can lay claim to making a crap weapon from time to time but that Skorpion looks cool.

Quick, random thought, @2300 Nueces. If you're looking at any Walthers for your CCW, make sure you're not considering the Umarex-made "Walthers" (not actually Walthers) like the CCP and PK380, which are absolute junk.

Umarex, as you may know, is an airsoft company and has been the parent company of Walther for quite a while now. Unfortunately, Umarex has gotten in the firearm manufacturing business themselves and has chosen to prostitute Walther's good name all over their cheaply built trash (and carelessly do long-term damage to the Walther brand in the process, since almost everyone assumes the problematic Umarex junk is actually Walther-produced).

Anyway, the PPS, PPQ, and P99 are all excellent pistols manufactured by Walther in Ulm. The CCP and PK380 (and P22) are Arnsberg-sourced Umarex garbage bearing Walther roll marks. Caveat emptor.

ya know?.....back in the day there was a fair industry taping a small copper pipe to a simily of a hand stock....wrapping a stout rubber band behind the pipe and stuffing a 22 behind it....it was called a zip gun and the damned thing worked......sort of....it had a hell of a back blast but was effective for about 3 feet.....you might try that.......

There’s some fun/interesting/disturbing zip gun videos on Youtube. Like the $7 12-gauge zip gun shotgun, which looks even more primitive than the usual zip gun.

a friends son got a 12" pipe that snugly fit a 12 ga shell.....he slid it into the pipe, taped a BB to the back of the shell over the primer, leaned over it, looked into the pipe and slammed it onto the side walk. He was trying to kill himself but only managed to blow off the side of his head. He was crippled for life.

While this is a disturbing story--- obviously very sad and tragic--- why not just use a gun? No access?

Patton personally killed two of Villa's Lieutenants with that pistol. He was deadly accurate!
