AMC showing some great movies today. Just finished Midway (saw it first time with my dad in ‘70’s, and now watching “Green Berets” with The Duke. Awesome flick.

God Bless our service men and women!

I remember watching "The Green Berets" when it came out in 1968. Me and my little brother were with pops and my uncle at a drive-in movie theater in Oakland. My dad was a combat infantry vet of WWII and he had a son over in Vietnam with the 3rd Marines when the movie came out. They went through a case of PBR during that flick....my first movie memory....

Yes, I remember watching the "Memphis Belle" which is the story of the B-17 's bombers over Italy and Germany in WW II with my Dad who was a squadron leader. He stated show was basically true except some scenes were movie added. The cockpit was cold and shooting real bullets and I feel he was glad to make it back home alive so I have some feelings when individuals will not even stand 2 minutes for the flag, ungrateful for the sacrifices of Americans before them.

My favorites are Midway and Band of brothers. My dad flew fighters, escorted Clark Gable on his bombing mission. He always spoke up when John Wayne was mentioned. "That damn draft dodger."

Good for your Dad. It turns my stomach every time I would see an American Flag with John Waynes picture imposed on it. To make it worse, he was a damned tax cheat as well.
