Danny Patrick is trying to get rid of the devils lettuce in Texas. Meaning all hemp based THC (products with <.3% THC or delta 8 and delta 9) in all vape shops and suggests they close their doors or face consequence. Wish our legislators would concentrate on actual issues. How many Delta 8 or Delta 9 overdoses or issues have you heard of? I get it should be more regulated. 100% agree with that for consistency and safety. Like many, I think we should just legalize recreational weed so it can be regulated so consumers know what they are getting. But that won’t happen in Texas for a long ass time. Rational thoughts OB’S? This is hundreds of millions of dollars in state sales tax revenue by the way.

From the linked article.

TEXAS THC POTENTIAL BAN

“Mark Bordas, executive director of the Texas Hemp Business Council, said that lawmakers were conflating consumable hemp, which, by legal definition, has a low concentration of THC, with higher potency marijuana. Certain bad actors are “operating in the black market, in the shadows,” he said, arguing that the state needed greater oversight of the industry as a whole to block those manufacturers and retailers — rather than a total prohibition.

“We have a common enemy. We know who’s doing wrong,” Bordas said. “We’d both like to eliminate them, but the problem is, the lieutenant governor and Senator Perry are going to eliminate the entire business — including over 7,000 licensed dispensaries.”
The industry also highlighted roughly 50,000 jobs and billions in tax revenue that would be lost if lawmakers quashed the hemp market entirely. And critics argued that instead of addressing public health concerns, a ban would push consumers into an unregulated black market, easing access to more potent products.
