Couldn't cut it in the Mexican Leagues
@2300 Nueces Im not sure how I feel about MLS and LMX joining.

It would certainly give a credibility boost to both leagues. For MLS and Mexico eyeballs would increase on TV immediately. Dollars would roll in quick.

Mexico doesn’t have a national broadcast provider. Joining MLS would (I assume) give them access to major networks to strike a league wide deal and generate loads of cash.

From an open market perspective it would be irritating because MLS (SUM) would control too much. The league would not value development and it would be run like the NFL model. That won’t work long term.

I have many more thoughts but typing on my phone sucks, lol

That's funny, weevil. Well played. :D

lol.

I can't remember...do you follow MLS at all?

Technically yes. Dynamo. That said this MLS is Back tournament is pretty awful. These teams look like they would be bottom half of the table in the English Championship.

Agreed. FCD here. I think the combo of the leagues would be big. I understand the concern about buying players but there is also a lot of development. FCD develops a lot of players. They can't win the big one but they send a lot of kids to colleges, semi-pros, and pro teams. It will be a mix and would be one heck of a nasty league. I think it would be entertaining.

Here's a compromise. Have an FA style cup tournament with all teams from MLS and LMX that goes on throughout the seasons.

Of course, what REALLY needs to happen is MLS needs to change its schedule from September to May like everyone else. No matter what its competing with the NFL, MLB, and NBA right now as it is.

Some of the games have been okay. And honestly, these guys are being held in a bubble playing on the same complex. This is a goofy situation and also playing at 9am doesn't help.

I'm excited about the games tonight. I think they'll both be quality.

FCD has the best academy in MLS. Galaxy was good until they hired Schelotto and he let all of his big names go to Europe too early instead of playing them. RSL has a good one as does NY Red Bull.
