Report: UM wants 12 mil a year to coach Jags

He’s obviously a great coach, but his true value is in college where he can stock his team full of talent.

I'm getting a little tired of Urban and his act.

He's a great coach, but he also mighty full of himself.
How is it full of yourself to say "this is what I'm willing to sell my time & expertise for"? Every last one of us who have a job are selling a product. That product is our time & talents. We get to determine what that time & talent is worth. If a company is willing to meet our asking price, then they get our time & talent, while we get their money. If they are unwilling to meet that asking price, we keep our time & talent, while they shop for someone else's time & talent. That's basic capitalism. And there's nothing arrogant about it.

I seriously doubt he gets Texas money in the NFL. He should have taken the Texas job if he wanted that $.

I personally think this is a smart play on his behalf. There is smoke around Ryan Day taking an NFL gig and I think Urban is sending a signal to the powers that be at Butt-Eyes Belmont that this is the starting point of him being hired back.
Urban is the Assistant AD at Ohio State. He doesn't need to "send a signal" about his asking price.

The cost went up because his wife does not want to move to Jacksonville this late in life !

I mean what does UM have to lose? I thought we had him bc we offered to give him more money than Nick Saban is getting, along with all of his other demands. That was 10m per year. But if he can get 12 in the NFL and always have cfb to fall back on, why not try?

Was his time or talent not worth what Texas reported to offer? If the “rumors” were true, it would have been the most ever for a college football coach.

sincere question

My good man, please check your logic at the door.

This is OB.

I doubt he made his decision solely on money. At the end of the day, we all have boxes that need to be checked in order to take a job. Texas didn't check all the boxes. Maybe Jacksonville will. All I know is that the wealthier & older you get, the more picky you become. I don't take offense to Texas not being the right fit for Urban or him viewing another team as a potential fit.

No way in Hell I am paying that much for any coach unless you already have the talent in place to win now. This isn't college where you can recruit talent and turn a team around quickly.

God bless America

Equal talent at Bama drov him to retirement the first time.
He will trail most teams in talent at Jacksonville. Don’t see him winning or lasting long at JAX.

I am thinking we dodged a bullet with this guy. A 100% dedicated Urban Meyer is worth $12M/year. An Urban Meyer that is more concerned with personal health and family? Not so sure...
Agree. I think we dodged a bullet. But in all fairness if Matt Rhule gets 9 million at Carolina. Urban definitely deserves in excess of $10 million.
