Ehlinger, Dicker named Big 12 Players of the Week
Sam Ehlinger named Offensive Player of the Week and Cameron Dicker named Special Teams Player of the Week.
IRVING, Texas - Texas Football’s Sam Ehlinger and Cameron Dicker were both honored as Players of the Week by the Big 12 Conference on Monday morning following their efforts in the Longhorns’ 48-45 victory over No. 7 Oklahoma in the AT&T Red River Showdown.
Ehlinger was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 386 yards and five touchdowns. It was the most touchdowns ever by a Longhorn quarterback against Oklahoma. His three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns marked the first time since Vince Young in 2005 that a Longhorn QB has had three rushing TDs with multiple passing TDs in a game.
His 386 total yards were the second-most by a Longhorn quarterback in the Red River Showdown, behind just his 388 total yards a season ago. It was just the fourth 300-yard passing effort by a Longhorn QB ever against Oklahoma.
Dicker was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on a game-winning, 40-yard field goal with nine seconds left to lift the Longhorns to victory. He also made a 44-yard field goal in the win and converted all six of his extra point attempts. He kicked off nine times with six touchbacks in the game, also.
The Longhorns are back at home Saturday when they play host to Baylor. Kickoff inside Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
