Somehow, we need to find a middle ground on not offending anyone and calling a spade a spade. If it walks like a duck & looks like a duck, we need to investigate to make sure it's not a duck.

My side is my country. I said the far right because I see more things on the right that I did not see when I was younger....Like saying compromise is losing.....I am sorry but our nation was founded and the government created TO COMPROMISE and no one gets everything they want. I am far from perfect. I do not know everything. I try to listen....the way I was taught in TEXAS....what is wrong with me that I don't want to kill people who have done nothing wrong (other than worship the wrong God in my view)? Isn't that what the terrorists are doing to us now?? Killing people that have done them no wrong? They've tried to come up with names for the middle before. Blue dog democrats, Reagan republicans, etc etc. The reality of it is there are 330 million different political parties in this country, but only 2 legitimate parties to vote for. Anytime someone from the left emerges as a candidate he or she is beaten down by the right. The sane goes for any candidate that emerges out of the right. And God forbid a strong candidate rise up out of the middle, that poor soul gets crushed by both sides. It's this never ending train of fvckery that politicians keep us stuck in. People don't divide people, politicians and the media do. Before you can actually get to "know" a person- whether they like to hunt or fish or play poker or drink scotch or whatever the two of you may have in common, the media and politicians have already driven a wedge in between you with their politics.

I've been to some sh!thole countries in my life, but what I ate last night----- I'd have chosen a taco stand in Nuevo Laredo over that sewage at Turtle Creek. Good lawd.

I never really thought about having several parties. That is a good idea. Then we aren't stuck holding our nose when we vote (as much). It seems that 1/2 the country hates the other 1/2.
The way it is now the party tells the people what to think instead of the people telling the party. How can anyone believe everything a party stands for on every issue? I can't comprehend that.
I first voted for Reagan for his 2nd term. He would be considered a gutless liberal by many in today's climate. I have never voted straight party. I try to vote for the least extreme of each party.
I'm glad I'm not alone and there are more like me.
People vote AGAINST a candidate....moreso than vote FOR the other guy. The problem is that no matter how we brand these guys/gals....they are all the same in the end....That is why people that the population considers a political outsider are so popular....i.e. Trump/Carson. I also think had he stayed the course,Perot might have gotten way more than the 17% of the vote that he did.
Not a fair comparison Clob....Taco stands in Nuevo Laredo are generally pretty damned good. Now if you would have said a taco stand in say...Philidelphia or Boston I would have been impressed.

I presented Australia to counter your Chicago example. You asked what my personal preference would be and I said no guns except for at home and gun club with an immediate need for closing gun show loophole.
My dream is that we don't NEED guns. More US citizens are killed by cops than terrorists and I'd like to think this would curb the rate. Is it feasible? Yes. Other countries have done it. Is it likely? No. Definitely not in my lifetime.
It's no different than the guy saying they think they deserve to own artillery but understand why they can't legally acquire it. Acknowledging that I want gun free streets does not mean that I am unwilling to compromise on the subject.

Only I never gave chicago as an example for anything.....I don't remember mentioning you as wanting to take up ALL the guns. But if your dream is that we don't NEED guns then we just disagree and we will always on this subject....Wouldn't you want a gun in your hand if you or your family were being attacked? The only thing protecting us from bad people with weapons is GOOD people with weapons.

We should not worry about unjust at the expense of muslims who are not willing to turn on their own. They should all be placed in camps until we can confirm their innocence. If they want to cry fowl or woe is me then they should be looking at and blaming their Muslim neighbors for not policing their own.

The argument is pointless, I agree. You will say that you are worried about criminals. I'm worried about some of the posters on here that want to kill innocent people to make a point. You feel safer with a gun in your hand. I feel safer with guns out of theirs. I don't feel any safer with a gun in my hand if a gang comes to my door. I may feel less helpless, but I don't feel safer. Someone's going to die and that doesn't make me feel any better.

The problem in my eyes is the leniency given to criminals. Society does not want to deal with criminals - instead they have the "if it doesnt directly affect me what do i care" attitude. Society no longer helps. Society leaves everything to the police - and we are disarming the police as we speak. The whole no one should fear the police mentality is redicolous. Criminals should fear for their lives anytime they break the law and do not cooperate with the officer.
You know what the problem is with the hood - the community members turn a blind eye to gangbangers and thieves. If society would take responsibility for their communities and become involved the number of killings would go down and crime would falter also.
