Sporting News Predictions 2019... Aggy, don't look

I wonder if you could some how poach Stanford and USC from the PAC and add them to BIg 12. Could schedule it where you only have 1 cali road trip each year. You add to your academic standing, add Cali as a recruiting base, and add two top teams to the conference. I know it is more likely for Hell to freeze over, but pie in the sky!

Man, some folks are really setting some lofty expectations for our horns. For a team that takes a lot of heat for underperforming, these publications are making it tough as it is impossible for us to outperform their predictions.

I do think we could win the big12 this year, no doubt about it. I am still not sure we will avoid stubbing our toe at some point along the way and knock ourselves out of playoff contention.

It is funny seeing aggy in the Liberty Bowl after all the $$$ they have been throwing around.

aggy will be lucky to win 7 games. Bama, Clemson, Georgia, auburn and LSU are almost sure losses.
I hate to go into a season with a decent team thinking 8 wins would be good, but it is what it is. Maybe we beat Auburn, maybe not. Mississippi State is not a gimme. I don't see us beating Clemson or Alabama anywhere, and Georgia and LSU on the road seems pretty unlikely. LSU is so much tougher in Baton Rouge.

I don't think we'd be lucky to win 7, but it is a reasonable guess I hate to say.

The schedule is way better in 2020, we drop Clemson & Georgia for Colorado & Vandy. Other than a couple guys declaring early and our punter, we should return everybody for 2020. So as Aggies have been saying the last decade and a half, wait until next year. I actually believe it for once.

As long as $EC teams continue to schedule FCS cupcakes and only play 8 conference games, their "claim" as the best conference is "fake news".
So what is your definition of fake news, stuff you don't want to hear? The SEC has the best players and teams, so it is an easy claim to make.

The way the $EC schedules cupcake FCS schools and manipulates the bowl matchups is ridiculous. That and the way they all cheat and don't turn each other in.

I 100% agree on the FCS games, they should be stopped across the board. Not so much on the bowl games. Why have power and not us it? But other than the playoffs, I'm not sure that bowl games matter much anymore anyway.

The old SWC is probably why no one tattles on each other. All the cheating and tattling pretty much killed a once proud conference. It was a joke by the time Arkansas left.

Playoffs eh? It's definitely a possibility but highly unlikely. Just like every coach says, win our games and we'll get where we want to be.
I say let's hold the post season predictions until after we've played Lsu & Ou so we know what we have on the field.
If we make the ccg, it's most likely going to be vs sooners part deux.

When I look at the mess Jimbo Fisher left behind at Florida State (6-win team, no P5-quality QB, porous offensive line), I wonder how's he going to do at TAMU? Sure he has lots of advantages there - but he had lots of advantages in Tallahassee as well...

OK, this is noted. I think the odds on a Texas OU CCG are about 75%. Another strong possibility would be for Texas or OU to make the game vs another opponent but I would say it's 20% while neither at about 5%. The question being, who could knock TX or OU out of the CCG? I only envision 3 teams that could do it.... 1. ISU 2. TCU 3. Baylor

Your thoughts.......

Jimbo being in the SEC is a perfect match because right now it's the most corrupt of all conferences. He's free to hand out envelopes to recruits in the SEC without the ACC conference commissioner looking over his shoulder.

Man.....not trying to sound like a home but I'm putting TX vs OU ccg around 96.9%. I just don't see anyone else in the conference with less than 2 losses by end of season.

Barring any high profile injuries, I'm thinking the b12 power structure is returning to old ways.
Like always, anything can happen but that's where I'd place my bets.

You dont nees the "Sporting news" to make aggy predictions.......

Aggy will go 6-6 or 7-5......Lose to Clemson,Bama,Georgia,LSU, and some Mississippi school......play in some lower tier bowl game against a team that doesn't want to be there.....like NCstate.....and with a loss or win they will engrave the closest loss to Clemson,Bama,Georgia, or LSU on the ring and remind everyone why they are STILL the butt of Aggy jokes.

mm42....generally you seem to be a good guy, but that out dated idea of the secsecsec having the best teams has long ago been exposed as fake news.

The last three years in bowl games, the secsecsec has the worst record of any of the Power 5 conferences. Since Bowl season is the only time the secsecsec actually plays anyone it is a true indicator. If you took out Bama, the secsecsec has a dismal bowl record for those last 3 years

Come on!!!! Seriously!!!!
Everyone knows the Sec doesn't do well in bowl games because they beat each other up during the regular season......that and because everyone of those Sec teams that loses their bowl game felt they should've been in the playoffs therefore they just dont show up......

Thank God we didnt schedule Maryland.....or OSU for that matter.

And thank God we didn't schedule Clemson on the road and on national tv early in the season. And at least Dabo doesn't have a score to settle with our coach.

hey 2300 ... first time poster on your board .... (belong to another big12 board) but have read and enjoyed the obvious camaraderie amongst the orangeblood fellas for a few years. my hot take is that you're spot on with your 2019 prediction. analysis of each team's strength and weaknesses shows fatal flaws for the teams ranked 3-10, with me putting ISU at #3 for some good reasons, but not enough to justify them outscoring either #1 ou or #2 texas. the clones are bolstered by a good qb with an o-line that returns en masse, and a tough defense BUT no scoring play-makers of note. tcu is in limbo because of what their qb position brings, while baylor struggles with depth at several key positions. the same thing that doomed the froggies last year.

I agree, you are welcome anytime. MM needs the clicks so he can keep tubing on the Comal. Make sure you don't troll in a passive/aggressive manner like Belldozer and if you happen upon Sholz, be nice. Actually, Sholz is a sweetheart on Surly. He NEVER ruffles any feathers.

Best team with new a coach? TTech, Kansas, KST, WVU?

gotta go with the fightin tacos. one...the a-d kirby hocutt is a sharp dude, so i'd bet on any coaching selection he makes as being a well thought-out and researched hire. two...the man himself matt wells took u-state and made the aggies respectable of late. surely not an easy task for any coach! plus, absolutely love bowman as the qb. that kid is legit good, just a bit injury prone maybe? kansas is kansas no matter who calls the plays....kstate is a mess. and wvu is a puzzle at qb which is never good. yep i'd say tech. question for you....forecast the lsu texas game. arguably the best non con match up of '19.

Y’all have a shot vs ala and Clempson. Watch the seccg for how to stop tua. Clempson did.

LSU is not unbeatable, even though Death Valley is s different beast to go into.

Thought I'd venture over there and take a look for myself. He was getting into it with an ISU fan about the "horns down"....said in turn he was flipping off the ISU fan's family and specifically his mother. Good to see he is on the road to recovery.

Our season hinges mostly on Sam's health. He hasn't stayed healthy either of the last 2 seasons for the full. He's gotta save himself for the big games. With WVU and OSU starting new QBs, those are 2 losses we should erase. We're never going to get an easier path to the Big 12 with everyone except Baylor with a new QB.

This, although our backup is capable, he is not SE at this point. Run the ball with the running backs.
