***THERE ARE NO SUMMER ENROLLEES! JAKE SMITH, FOR EXAMPLE, IS A SUMMER ENROLLEE!!!! IF PARKER BRAUN COMES TO TEXAS, HE WILL BE A SUMMER ENROLLEE!!***
This is the second in a series of updates to the SPRING FOOTBALL depth chart projection and projections can and are likely to change at some spots as we receive more information coming into practices. There were quite a few updates from V.1 in this version due to transfers and also new information we've been able to come across over the course of the last week or so.
* "OR" between two players means two players are interchangeable, it does not matter who's name is written first - "OR" indicates anticipated camp/spring conditioning battle.
** ONLY PLAYERS AVAILABLE FOR SPRING PRACTICE WILL BE LISTED. NO SUMMER ENROLLEES!!! REPEAT: NO SUMMER ENROLLEES!!!
Changes made from v1.0:
- RBs Kyle Porter and Tristian Houston, who have both entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, have been removed from the chart. Also, based on recent information we've gathered, I've moved senior RB Kirk Johnson up to the "OR" category with Daniel Young as the primary No.2 option at the position to start spring behind Keaontay Ingram.
- Jordan Whittington was added into the mix at the running back position as well as remaining penciled in to compete for starter's work in the slot.
- No other changes at the WR position as far as the projections, even despite the fact that I looked into whether or not Malcom Epps would move back to TE. The current thinking from the staff is that he'll stay at WR in perpetuity, which makes sense. Texas really only plays one TE in games and the depth is currently solid, especially given the two 2019 additions in Wiley (spring enrollee) and Liebrock (summer enrollee).
- Patrick Hudson has been removed from the projections until further notice. For those who missed it, Herman mentioned the hard-luck junior OL has taken something of a leave of absence from the team which I view as one he's unlikely to return from.
- Rafiti Ghirmai moved from competing at backup RG to outright backup at C.
- Denzel Okafor remains in play to start at RT but is also now listed as an option at guard as well.
- Junior Angilau moved from No.2 RG to possible starter at LG.
- Tyler Johnson added into the mix to possibly start at LG while remaining in the mix depth-wise at RT.
- Christian Jones moved from competing at backup LT to in the mix to start at RT.
