I don't think either side's fanbase really wants the game because of what the loss would mean, and neither team is head and shoulders above the other to minimize that risk. It's definitely something the general public would love to see.
I never want to play them again, no matter who is better or what it means to either team. That rivalry is dead and stinking, and I wish we would stop talking about them on the message boards.

The SEC does a good job playing chess with bowl games.
I would be fine if Texas never played aggy again in any sport. They left and quit the conference and the rivalry. Screw a&m.
Both sides drove us away. Texas wasn't clean in A&M leaving. Texas wanting to control things in the conference was A factor in A&M leaving. With all of the shuffling in college football, A&M had to make a decision that was best for them. Currently Texas is in a situation where the conference seems to be falling apart and the only thing left to do is add mediocre teams to the mix that doesn't interest anyone. Texas will be leaving..or "quitting" the conference soon enough. BUT, please don't act like A&M left and that Texas had nothing to do with it. It was just time to part ways. We are happy, and according to this board, you guys are happy so everything should be peachy...except it's not.
If you idiots would stop riding the coattails of others in your conference and acting like you guys have done anything of note since 1939 then maybe we could let it go. But you guys couldn't leave quietly and had to piss on the conference you couldn't do jack shit in for years on the way out. Being in the SEC doesn't change your football history. Your biggest win in your program's history is a regular season win against Alabama in a year you didn't even win your own division must less your conference. Learn your place Aggy..
Yes, yes, you can rant all you want. That doesn't change the fact that Texas contributed to A&M leaving. I'm quite aware of the history of the program. You aren't real original on your post. However, you are a little naive to your own program's control issues. It's the first time that Texas has been left hanging out to dry in what is now considered the worst Power 5 conference. The only proof you need are the teams that the conference is considering for expansion.
If you want to talk about control then UT still has it. They can simply bail to another conference or go indy in 2025. We aren't stuck like other teat sucking schools. Texas will always be fine. And if we win the conference and have 2 or less loses we will still make the playoffs. Aggy doesnt' have the cache and never has. We are much happier without you trust us.
I have no interest is playing again annually, makes little sense for either school. But would I like to play this year? Easy yes. Who knows who will have a better team in the future. But this year would be a solid yes.

This year? Not sure if you are being serious. Loses to Cal and let's say Baylor. Biggest wins Oklahoma (2 OOC loses already), Okie St (lost to MAC team), TCU (lost marquee OOC game), Notre Dame (already lost 3 including Duke), and WV (beat 2 decent OOC teams). You truly believe that gets you in the playoffs? The best win would be WV. 11 and 1 would probably get you in, but no freaking way 10 and 2 does the trick. seeing as how aggy voted the same as Texas in the Big 12, your theory of us wanting to control everything is a bit weak... it is amazing how nebraska and aggy fas act like Texas had more votes etc in the Big 12 than everybody else.... must be that inferiority complex bothering them.
Bottom line aggys said one year they would stay if they got extra money - money which BOTH Texas and ou tirned down.... then after they got it they bailed the following year... aggy is gutless and their moe etc is ALL on them and nobody else....
Deep down I don't think Texas would want to play a&m this year. Not that a&m is anything great, but I imagine they would go up and down the field on the longhorns
I think the longer we don't play, the more difficult it will be to get it done. It really doesn't help us to play you. It would only potentially hurt. Right now the up side would be all yours. This conference is too good and we already have several marquee games. You have two, and those have lost luster with recent losses. This could change of course, but right now it is pretty factual. We may face plant down the stretch, but it wouldn't change the aforementioned situation for the time being.
Not always possible to guess what are marquee matchups until they come about.Not that many would have picked Louisville as a top 5 team before the season unfolded, nor that Auburn and ND would be bottom feeders...USC and MSU dont look all that hot right now.Baylor and for that matter aTm are getting respect right now.....who would have thought that?
Depends on the losses and the records of other teams in other conferences. My point is that Texas has cache and the aggies don't. We will get the benefit of the doubt. Not saying we will win the big 12 championship this year. Just making a point about if Texas does well and wins the conference we will have a better chance than others to get into the playoffs.

This is undeniable. Tons of evidence of it but most recently moving from preseason #35 to #11in the AP poll by beating ND. Of course nobody knew just how bad ND was at the time and if they play Kizer the whole way they probably win going away. But to see that kind of jump shows that CFB is desperate for Texas to return to prominence.
Right now you need to be focused on Iowa St not becoming your daddy. That is the state of your program right now.

It's doesn't bother us that they left. We are happy they are gone. It bothers us the way they left, their lies they told for leaving after voting the same as Texas the year before, and their constant touting of their new conference that they have done absolutely nothing in. They care about being in the vaunted SEC more than actually being good. Let them win something anything before they come back here weekly and run their mouths. Their idea of their place is history is so distorted from reality it's like talking to a child. "Hey but at least we are in the SEC"

I mean you're not even in third place in your own state. Baylor is going to finish ahead of you again and so will Houston. This will be the third straight October that you will be in the top ten and it will be the third straight October you will come crashing back to earth. And I'm confident, very confident we will end up with a better team than a&m when the season is over which will then drop you back to 4th place in your own state and lord knows how low you will be ranked in the SEC. And aggie=nazi is right there will be no marquee match ups in the SEC this year because everyone except Bama will lose at least two games. They are going to cakewalk into the playoffs. And everyone on here knows that you aggies do the the SEC's bidding when it comes to bowl games I mean they wouldn't even let you play TT last year in the Houston Bowl.
