I think Texas needs this game as bad as tech does. Yeah Texas is already in a bowl, but I really think this program needs 7-5 and to keep the momuintim building. Losing to Tech at home after the win last week would be kind of a let down.

As far as the A&M game. Texas doesn’t need it. They don’t offer anything. If it ever does become a yearly thing agsin a bowl game would be a pretty cool way to restart it, but only if a yearly game follows it.
Desperate attempt there....Texas did not lose to TCU in 2013, they blew them out in Fort Worth. And this was being discussed by the AD mid-August, before the season even started?
It wouldn't have mattered if Arky beat Texas by 100 points...it was after the fact. There was no way in hell A&M was going to play Texas and risk SEC protective shield they had just put up a year before.
And by the way, A&M was extremely lucky to pull out a last second win vs. WVU only because their star QB was out for that game. Would've been steamrolled like usual vs a Big 12 opponent.

Facts? Would these be "alternative facts"? Do you have a link from a credible source? Do you have the SEC saying they slotted TAMU in the Liberty Bowl (in which they beat WVU) because they TAMU was ducking or the SEC would prefer TAMU and Texas not to play. The only think I remember is Charlie Strong saying he welcomed a Texas Bowl matchup with TAMU.

The SEC said they made the decision as it states( The Conference, in consultation with the institutions and the bowls, will make the assignments for these six bowl games from all eligible SEC teams.) You can do your own leg work. Aggy and the SEC decided to make that game not happen. Aggy went to a lesser bowl with a smaller payout. The SEC front office is brilliant when it comes to selecting matchups. IT's not all on Aggy.

I wouldn’t hate playing Aggy again. I’d rather do that than play the San Jose States of the world. To me those sorts of games are a waste, but otherwise to me Texas doesn’t need the game if it’s not a conference game.

Ok you the aggie with a mouth. Allow me to use a free agent analogy. In 2011 a&m played out their option and signed with the SEC as a free agent. That same time TCU played out their option and signed with the Big XII. The Big XII needed a Texas school to replace a&m so we signed the frogs.
So instead of Texas why not play TCU in a bowl? I mean if TCU doesn't get selected for a P6 bowl why not pull some strings and set up an a&m/TCU Houston Bowl? It's been 6 years now so prove to us that the SEC got the better end of the aggie/frog swap.
And i don't think TCU will punk out. Good grief they're playing tOSU next year in Cowboy Stadium. How about it aggie?
Oh btw since you've gone out of your way to bring up us getting blown out by Arkansas a few years ago, then it's fair game to remind you that in that same year Bama beat you 60+/0 on national tv. It was also the same year that a&m got blown out by both MS schools at home. On national tv. In a stadium that had a minimum of 20,000 empty seats.

I'll tell you what tape face I'll play along. the cow college got off to a good start their first year in the SEC I'll give you that. The second year not quite as good but ok. Now I take exception with your claim over beating a Big XII team in the Liberty Bowl in year 3. It was West Virginia and it was not the same as playing someone else from the Big XII which is why the SEC scheduled it. in case you forgot WV joined the Big XII after all the defections. Other than that a&m has done nothing special.
Otoh Texas has slipped. The last three years everybody with an axe to grind against the horns has gotten a little revenge. I mean even Kansas has beaten us. But that's changing Tom Herman is a winner and he will return Texas to the top.
But after the 2012 season you aggies gloated to the point where you started that wrts nonsense. But within 3 years you went from wrts to being in fourth place in your own state. All that's left is at least you're ahead of us. But not anymore. We will pass you up by the time this season's over.

Why would anyone really want to watch a Texas vs A&M game this year? It would be bad football. Not sure who would win, but I can promise you a good team wouldn't win. One fan base would realize how bad they were, the other would gladly think all was well.
Nobody fears that shitshow y'all put on the field. Bama played down to their competition.
Texas has the better defense and the statistics don't lie, the Aggy offense actually sucks worse than Texas...

It's a rivalry whether people want to admit it or not. I mean look at the post that are going back and forth on here. There's still hate on both sides and I can tell you I work around more aggy and one lives with me that I would love to mud stomp their asses. We may be a bad team and they may be just as bad or worse but it's still a rivalry game that I'm sure would bring out some good football. Based off your statement of "I can promise a good team wouldn't win" could be said for what ever bowl we're in then right? I mean we'll possibly be going in as a 7-5 team playing an opponent with the same record or slightly better.

Let me explain to you what a "rivalry" is.
A Rivalry isn't something made up by Board Regents who need to fill a void in their empty soul. A Rivalry is two sided. By two sided I mean that both sides share something in common- a common win loss record. Multiple championships- multiple conference titles-- similar win loss records. A Rivalry means, "whomever wins this game has an inside shot to the title".
Oklahoma is our rival. Michigan and Ohio state= rivals.
Florida st and miami- rivals.
USC and Notre Dame- rivals.
Alabama and Auburn- rivals.
Having close win/loss records is what makes a true rival.
