The University of Texas will let go of men’s basketball head coach Rodney Terry after three
seasons leading the Longhorn program. Terry went 69-38 at Texas, including a 19-16 record this
past season, their worst record since 2017.

The men’s basketball head coach position will now be vacant at the University of Texas for the
first time since 2022-2023 season, when the Longhorns named Terry their interim head coach
following the departure of Chris Beard on January 5, 2023.

Between 2021-2024, the Longhorns were one of just eight programs nationally to advance to at
least the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 in each of their last three years, joining Baylor,
Creighton, Gonzaga, Houston, Kansas, Michigan State, and Tennessee. With the head coaching
position at the University of Texas now vacant, a coaching search will be in full swing this
offseason in Austin.
