The Texas coaches continue to look for running back talent all over the country, and earlier this month the Longhorns made the top 12 for Mountain Brook (AL) standout Harold Joiner.
The 6-3, 213-pound Joiner picked up a Texas offer in April. While some schools are recruiting him as an athlete that could play different positions, Texas likes Joiner as a running back.
"They tell me I'm versatile, that I'm a good running back," Joiner said. "I feel like I can catch out of the backfield, catch out wide, I can block. I feel like I can do a little bit of everything."
Texas sits in a final grouping that includes Alabama, Auburn, Michigan State, UCLA, Tennessee, TCU, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Baylor. While Texas has certainly grabbed Joiner's attention, he admits he's not too familiar with the UT program.
"Honestly, I don't know a lot about them. I watched them two or three years ago. I want to find out more about them," Joiner said. "I'm probably going to visit them this summer but I'm not sure when."
Joiner, who will play in the Army All-American Bowl, has yet to decide on a commitment date. Joiner recently named LSU as his leader, meaning schools like Texas are giving chase to that top spot.
"They're the team that communicates with me the most. They're the first team that told me I can be a starter my freshman or sophomore year," Joiner said. "But I'm still pretty open."
