One of Tim Beck's first QB offers after the move to Austin went to Okla. four-star Casey Thompson. Beck knew Thompson because he had offered him at Ohio State. The Buckeyes were an early player for Thompson, but not long after offering they ended up landing five-star Ga. passer Emory Jones.

Herman had also offered Thompson at Houston, so the ties run deep. Casey and I had a long chat this week and much of it centered around the Longhorns and how they factor into his recruitment, along with his timeframe for a decision and planned future visits. The link to that article is here:

One other note: Casey told me he and former Yoakum, Tex., WR Joshua Moore are very close and could end up being a package deal.

Not sure from which direction the interest appears lacking, but it certainly seems OU is not much of a factor. Intriguing for an OU legacy but given the circumstances of the legacy it certainly is understandable if that was a reason for them not being a factor.

They offered Casey early and were a top contender (last May Casey was saying OU and Ohio State were, essentially, top two), but then they popped a commitment from Rising in the summer and their QB spot was taken.

Early enrollee ......fits the prototype .....tell me more OB scouts

What is the QB wish list pecking order?
Quick thinker, quick release, quick on his feet.. definitely a running threat, solid arm and passer overall. A lot of his traits remind me of Russell Wilson. Good primary QB take, probably good enough to be the only QB

Read in an earlier thread Charles doesn't like ou and Kendal just transferred from there.

Looks like we will go OOS for our qb.

Excellent. . ..

Is he better than our in state options? Which you seem to have answered, trying to get an idea of the newest pecking order. . .as soon as we finished fretting over last year's 17 year olds, onto this year's 16 year olds. . . .

What a bizarre addiction for old men.

Yeah, better than the in-state guys, which are rather weak

I posted my list on another site yesterday

Thompson (OOS)
Rogers (OOS)
Sanders (liked him more before I found out he's torn 2 ACLs)
Mordecai
Allen
Amie
Tune
Mayden

Well done, Josh! Looks like the Ohio State/Houston connection is going to pay a huge dividend! OU coaches will be looking over their shoulders from now on, and how!

Looks to be a pretty good fit for Herman's offense

I like the move, offer Rising and make ou work a little to defend there commit on that front, slide in the backdoor and take Thompson out of the state.
OU doesn't want Thompson. He is a legacy so they had to offer him but they hope like hell he goes elsewhere and doesn't take up the ship. They're all in on Rising.

I know this has been asked, but if answered, I missed it. Where would the lad fall in the Texas top 100 if he were here?
