The Red River Shootout (RRSO) presents some interesting stats when looking at the impact of starting a QB who has started a RRSO game before.

I looked at games since 1996, of which there have been 28 RRSO.

Of those 28 games, there have been 15 times where one team is starting a RRSO veteran vs the other team starting a RRSO rookie.

Of those 15 times, the team with the veteran QB has won 10 times, or 67%.

But break it by team and it's a little more interesting.

Of the 15 times there has been a RRSO vet vs rookie QB, 9 times Texas had the RRSO vet QB, but they only won 4 of the 9, or 44%.

The other 6 times OU had the RRSO vet QB, and they won 100% of the time.

Assuming Quinn starts, we have the RRSO vet and OU will have the rookie.

Next year OU will likely have the RRSO vet and we will have the rookie. Can we break trend for the first time?
