Texas Recruiting

Not this kind of money no they weren’t. And now it’s the whole team
First off you don’t know how much guys were and weren’t getting before, and a lot of the numbers getting thrown around today end up being complete BS

second it isn’t the whole team. Not by a long shot.

And you do? Was it this much? If you don’t think it’s different with NIL I don’t know what to tell you. I guess you think A&M got their great recruiting class for free too huh?

“On Friday, a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023 signed an agreement with a school’s NIL collective that could pay him more than $8 million by the end of his junior year of college, The Athletic has learned. He’ll be paid $350,000 almost immediately, followed by monthly payouts escalating to more than $2 million per year once he begins his college career, in exchange for making public appearances and taking part in social media promotions and other NIL activities “on behalf of (the collective) or a third party.”

$8 million for a college recruit? Yeah a little ridiculous
Like I said a lot of these numbers that get floated out to the media of on Twitter ends up being complete nonsense. It was being reported that the Pitt WR got 3 million to go to USC. Turns out after he signed it now sounds like it was barely. Million maybe less. I seriously doubt, Quinn, or Arch or any QB will come close to 8 million. If Arch does it will be solely on family name and not something someone could replicate.

Heh heh whoo! Today? We are talkin about today right? 😁

Yes a lot of the numbers that get thrown out toddy end up being complete BS. When he entered the portal Addison was supposedly going to get 3 million from USC. When he committed the report was the real number was barely a million. Now that’s still a lot of money, but my point is don’t believe everything you see on Twitter. Most of it is BS

I know it’s only June but this may end up being a top recruiting class by the time signing day comes around. All the piece are falling in place after Arch committed. This moves us up to 3rd now.

The Williams commitment moves Texas up to 3 right now. Obviously long way to go but Sark bringing in another top 5 class is not out of the question

Not a great sign for Brian Kelly that Texas pulled out the #2 and #3 kids in LA and LSU wasn’t really a factor.

Texas may not be done in Louisiana. Sounds like we’re in good shape with CB Jordan Matthews, and have a shot a DL from West Monroe. Somebody help me out his name is slipping my mind right now.

I heard today that Arch’s dad Cooper has been in contact with Anthony Hill trying to get him to Texas. That would be huge as LB is a major position of need. Also heard David Hicks might have a little bit of interest after he saw Arch commit.

I think you may see some guys who weren’t considering Texas maybe start to consider Texas. Great wants to play with great.

You won with arche's committment but you aint won shit yet in cfb.

The Mannings getting involved in the recruiting process for Texas the next few years will reap dividends that will transform this program for the next decade. Their influence on these kids could potentially help them all at the next level too....these kids know that and will be lining up to play for us.

Now I'm not going to argue with you about this or that..... instead, I will speak to you from first hand experience.

I took 5 recruiting trips to 5, big time, national brand universities. Flew on private jets and everything.

There was only 1 if them that didn't hand me cash-- Texas.
Well, maybe then and that is great...but this wasn't then. Surely you aren't telling me that Arch JUST wants to play for Texas and will receive no compensation as well as all the other recruits. Here I'm hearing from some that great want to play with great, but that Houston group that was very close since their freshmen year that committed to A&M was paid. Listen, I expected Texas to get a huge bump either this year or next and yes I do believe great want to play with great. I also believe that Texas has the spin of you can play now and there are many open spots on that team. However, the belief that 18 year olds with money flying around everywhere just want to play for Texas without money is borderline delusional.

NIL played very little role in Arch coming to Texas. He could of went to Jackson State and played for Deion, and his NIL deal would be massive. His name is Manning. Money would of found him no matter where he went

It is what it is today. Kids are taking advantage of NIL and exploiting it to their advantage. a&m's class last year was heavily bought by NIL. It's legal now. I don't get why Jumbo is so defensive about it. aggy got ahead of the curve and used it to their advantage. If you don't embrace NIL today you're going to get smoked in recruiting. The schools with rich alums and other resources that they have at their disposal are going to thrive.

Actually the way Aggy did it may of not been legal. That’s why Jimbo is defensive about it.

Rumors are floating around that A&M players are not getting what was promised. Maybe someone is scared of getting caught with all the extra attention that A&M is getting and is backing out of some not totally legal deals?

Suchomel said that the two on commit watch tonight are Baxter and Cook.

Damn, that means I may have to change my pants twice tonight!
Nothing happened last night, but today is Baxter’s bday, so probably waited until today, which makes sense. Still heavily favored for the good guys for both.

RB Cedric Baxter has set his commit date for Aug 10th. A lot of people think that’s going to go Texas way.
