Texas Recruiting

since according to agscoopf either everyone is paying or no one is paying, I got to wondering .....if Sark is doing so great recruiting now, what will it be like if/when we start actually winning?...According to agscoopf it might not mean anything unless a bunch of top rated guys really want to play together here.

If that is true, why even keep score in the games?

Billy Walton, DE, 6'3" from Dallas South Oak Cliff just committed to the good guys.

"Johntay (Cook) just came here. My cousin (Malik Muhammad) was just there. We all feel the same. Texas is going to be the powerhouse like it was back in the day. They're turning the whole department around."

NIL played very little role in Arch coming to Texas. He could of went to Jackson State and played for Deion, and his NIL deal would be massive. His name is Manning. Money would of found him no matter where he went
Don't kid yourself. Let's see how this plays out and when he gets enrolled see what happens. Deals are hush hush under the table. The one recruit I know in this cycle very well is Anthony Hill. I can tell you that there are some dollar signs being thrown at him by multiple teams and YES Texas would be one of those teams. I don't fault Texas for doing it and I'm not saying it's wrong, but it is what it is right now. Let's not think all the hype is that Texas goes 5-7 and loses to Kansas and think everyone wants to jump on board. SOME of this could be hmmm, other teams are getting players by using NIL so by damn so are we. Again, I'm not bashing Texas...but let's at least acknowledge that NIL exists and that deals are mentioned and collected upon later.
My personal thought favors Arch a little bit and Texas. I've always thought why go to Ole Miss where Hall of Famers and legends went..why got to Tennessee where freaking Peyton Manning played and live up to that?? That could only lead to disappointment and expectations.

I don’t care if he went to Texas, UGA, or Tulane. He was and is going to make massive NIL money. On his list of concerns that was probably near the bottom. He and his family know the money will be there regardless where he plays.

What are you talking about? No one is saying we are not paying, it's legal. Texas has websites dedicated to giving you information on how to contribute. It's not a secret and no one is acting like it is.

This.

It’s what the aggies can’t seem to figure out. I’ve been saying it for almost a year. Aggie has tried to pretend they haven’t used NIL. Some boosters probably got all giddy and went rogue, instead of being patient.

But it’s legal to pay guys now, with some minor restrictions. Some day the Aggie fans and Jimbo will figure out why they’re being given shit

I'm figuring we will hear the "they chose atm because of it's facilities and traditions" excuse again and again and....

Recruits coming to THE University bc it's family, education, facilities...and more. And some of that NIL.🤘

With the Johntay Cook commitment that moves us up to #2 in the rankings per 247. On Rivals they have us at #1. This is starting to remind me a lot of Mack's 2002 class.
At this point, the main thing to pay attention to is not so much the class ranking but the average / recruit. I travel around the different CF boards and teams like OSU and Alabama are still in on a ton of big-time recruits just like Texas and OSU has a 94.12 average 0n the Composite and a whopping 4.07 on Rivals. Some teams - at this point - have less commits than others. Another school to keep an eye on is USC

Next thing you know they're gonna start offering keys to city eg. Austin and College station. 😂
Well OU would, but keys to Norman look like this...

We finished 5th last year with a 91.12 average. This year we are a little higher at 91.53 per 247 sports. If we pull in another 1 to 2 5 stars (Hill and Baxter) that's easily going to be a top 3 class for next year and you're probably looking at an average of around 93.

How many can we take this class? Anyone know?
Not sure of the exact number but they have made an exception for this year and next for scholarship limits. Here's an article that somewhat explains it.

Texas will be battling Alabama and OSU for the no. 1 class if they can finish with an average around 93 to 94. Georgia could also be in the conversion as they're in the mix for a ton of blue chip recruits just like Texas, Alabama, and OSU
