Fasusi, Terry, and who else?
I think that guy's going be really good. Glad we got him.
Money is not as great as you think it is. There's a reason why he recruited better classes when he was at OU. Same reason he's #18 right now, which is the same reason he finished 17th in 24 class- that they are not top tier in NIL. They are closer to tier 3.
We got oregon, aggie, maybe miami, like tier 0 in a class above everyone, they just throw money away.
Tier 1 is like ohio state, texas, alabama, probably georgia.
Tier 2 we got teams like OU, missouri, tennessee, nebraska, probably colorado, lsu, maybe michigan, maybe ND and psu
Tier 3 is where usc would be. with programs like clemson, and florida
Sure usc has unique opportunities that only they can offer a special player or 2, someone like caleb williams would make out nicely. but it's not the same for everyone else. if it was, they'd have no trouble locking california down completely and being consistently in the top 5.
E.g. class of 24, the top 10 players in california, oregon had 3 of them. usc had 0.
Ou and texas even had 1 each, bama had 2.
top 25 players in california, even washington has 3, oregon has 7. usc only had 4.
He's struggling to recruit with the best and usc level of commitment to NIL is one of the reasons why
I’d put Oregon in tier 1 with Nike deep pockets. Now winning it all seems to be the bigger challenge for them.
I dont know exactly but tier 0 is like, a deep endless well of stupidity. will probably always be the highest offer for any big time player.
1 is like, nobody will beat you for a higher offer except for tier 0. they have the most to spread around, can offer pretty much the top tier amount for a small handful of someones they want when going 1x1 against another school. they'll be able to do this for more players than tiers 2 and 3.
2 is like 1 but to a lesser extent. they spread their NIL around well and everyone still gets to eat very well. they can afford to offer massive amounts to special players they like so they can recruit with the best.
3 is still really good but less to spread around. they can snipe a player or 2 away from the other tiers but they dont have the wad to blow on more than a couple super star types in a given cycle. so they'll be capable of taking a 5 star away from anyone here and there.
Question-- and I'm being sincere here--
How many recruiting trips did you go on- where were they to-- how much cash were you offered?

Yeah, agreed--particularly when it's ou.
But we do have Trevor Goosby in reserve, that from all I hear, he's really coming on strong and is Bank's backup. He will most likely slide right as the starter--(even if Fasusi comes to Texas).
This can give us a chance to land a player like Turntine-an OT in the 2026 class who is Fasusi-like.
Baker would be in front of Fasusi as well. He was a high 5 star from Kalifornia last year. Fasusi does not want to wait and learn.... These guys don't always pan out because they start early, make mistakes, and lose their edge. Be patient, wait and learn.
Texas has more money than all 3 combined but Texas doesn't play that game. Why pay for a dude that will sit for at least 2 years? Look, Texas has its $$ range and knows that it can pull Texans from any part of the country when it calls. We don't need to overpay at the brothel because secretly the hos be hopin for it.

texas donors have more money than the billionaires that fund miami, aggie and oregon combined? I doubt that. And even if it was true, it wouldnt matter if they "dont play that game".
Nobody has more money to waste on donations than oregon's benefactor who has already given the university a billion dollars. Not all to football, but i mean, come on, they've made it clear that oregon is a major player in NIL.
We both know oregon and miami arent recruiting powerhouses but they both had a better class than texas signed for 2024.
We both also know texas has always been able to recruit with the best. but the 25 class isnt off to a hot start. The state of texas has 9 five star players and only one of them will definitely be in austin next year (maybe two). So maybe they should play that game a little more.
And as far as why pay for a dude that will sit for 2 years? for the same reason alabama and georgia does it
What better way to learn than being a backup and playing a few hundred snaps as a freshman so you are more prepared to legitimately compete for starting time in year 2? Especially when the OL coach with the most players in the nfl at fasusi's position is coaching him?
Besides you never know who a player is until the pads go on in practice. OU doesnt promise starting time to anyone, they all have to earn it. They arent amateurs

So you add those dudes-in addition to Terry (hopefully), and that ain't a bad haul. Not to mention all the time until December to get some other guys.
I know--tell me about it. There's still people today on the this cite alone, who are doing that very same thing--repeatedly--and they've been doing it for months.
recruiting will always be this...back and forth flip flop...doesn't really matter until the end of the season and kids see what teams are playing good..just trust the process. Sark always recruits well. Everyone needs to calm the F down and think where we were 6 years ago.
Matter of fact FCK recruiting...we finally have a staff that has proven they can DEVELOP...isnt that what everyone has always bitched about? All these 5 and 4 stars and nobody to develop them. Sark Develops talent.
Texas doesn’t play that game is simply not true. They don’t come to Texas these days for the culture. I guess you missed the Lamborghinis lined up at recruiting event. Everyone is playing this game..including Texas.
