Texas vs TT ( Non Political) Football Game Thread

I think it's just one guy really...

I'm also talking about the guys that determine the quality of play calling based on the result of a play.

Let's say that we have 3 and 4 and we are planning to throw a quick slant to the slot. They blitz the slot corner, but we pick it up. Our receiver flashes open, but stumbles and the pass is incomplete.

Morons on this board would complain about the stupid play call, because all they comprehend is we didn't get a 1st down.

We are 7-3 and have been competitive in every game. If we don't beat everyone 60-0, people complain.

dj, I thought you and I were having friendly dialog. I assume you are calling me a moron with that comment. Not necessary.

If we don't bring 6 guys every play while at the same time double teaming all 5 eligible receivers AND having 2 spy's on the QB the fans will bitch.

Or we bring a 4+ man pressure and leave the corner in man and one of the corners jumps too early and gives up a TD on 4th down. All DC

Or we have our S as the spill player on zone read and he misses the tackle on 3rd down allowing a stumbling QB to score ruining any chance of a comeback. DCs fault.

List goes on.

Exactly. No matter what happens, it's always the play call that was wrong.

Before the season started, I'm pretty certain that if it was said that we'd be 7-3 after 10 games that people would have seen that as a major step in the right direction and would have taken that record. People bitch about not winning games with style points. Damn, wins are wins. These days, no team is able to shut down spread offenses. Considering everything, Tom Herman, Todd Orlando and the coaching staff have done a pretty good job of being solid coaches and helping to make Texas relevant again. The UT program is headed in the right direction.

This goes back over 2 seasons and is in reference to anyone that makes statements like "We didn't complete that perfectly called post pattern because our left guard destroyed, the OC sucks." Or, the other team just completed a 40 yard pass because the CB bit on a double move, when we are intentionally trying to keep everything in front of us, tar and feather the dc.

Their solutions are even dumb. If our Tackle can't block, we need to leave the TE into help in protection. Then they complain that we don't utilize the TE more.

dj, it’s pretty clear what I meant. Everybody on this board understands that we were extremely lucky to escape KSU, Tulsa, and Baylor. A couple of favorable calls, dropped passes in the end-zone, and missed FGs helped us in those games. Last year, those breaks went the other way. It’s okay that fans are frustrated at the inability to close out games. It is almost happened again tonight.

I do need to be careful not to be too negative, because we are seeing improvement. So for that I’m sorry. We are at least in every game. That is definitely better than what we had with Charlie.

And we lost 2 games that were impacted by bad calls and missed FGs.

Last year at this time, we were 5-5 and had been blown out twice. This year, we are 7-3 and have lost all 3 games by a combined 9 points. Last year it was Beck sucked because we couldn't score. Now no one questions Beck because we score over 30 a game. I guess he is all of the sudden not a bad coach. This year we have true freshmen all over the back end of our defense and all of the sudden, the only competent coach we had last year needs to be run out of town.

Some of you guys are so stupid.
DJ--- I will address this issue this week.... if you're interested. I don't know for a fact, but I think I have this figured out.

MM---- are we better, or is our competition not as good as they were last year? Weird question, I know. But it must be probed. Let's talk about this next week.

Up by three scores on TULSA. Almost lose.

Up three scores on KSU. Almost lose.

Up three scores on OU. Almost lose.

Up late on WVU. Loss.

Up three scores on Tech. I’m skeered.
I think with that pattern what you’re seeing is teams making adjustments at halftime.

I'm freaking ecstatic that we are 7-3 with a strong probability of 9-3 and a decent bowl. Coulda woulda shoulda all day doesn't get us anything except some forum banter between games.

I really have only 1 gripe and that is Mr Boyd. I get it, he constantly covers the best receivers but he consistently gets burned.....bad. Can anyone make sense of it or change my mind on him please? Is he too aggressive early in the route? Too slow? Or is the competition just that good and it wouldn't matter who was defending that pass?

It just seems that most every bomb beyond 20yds has Boyd behind the receiver.

He's not holton hill. Next year is going to be worse. Davis and Boyd will graduate. We have sophomores coming in and they are going to get torched, so enjoy the play we have now. Does that help?

This is nebulous question. Are we better if we have conner, malik, hill, and poona?

I think both. Bowman being out for Tech did not help them. All Texas can do is play the schedule that they're given. Its up to the coaches to prepare these guys and have them ready. Also its up to the coaches to recruit the best talent possible and to develop that talent. Texas is much better off now than before Tom Herman got to Austin. We're on the right track and he's building the program the way it should be done, IMO.

So far our offense has come to play it’s like a light switch turned on with Sam. Even if Bowman was in he doesn’t play defense and Jordan just was unstoppable. Probably would’ve been higher scoring maybe we win by a field goal maybe we lose by one.

Cook and Green are both highly talented corners. At worst one of them equals Boyd. So I don't see how you think it can get worse. As long as the youngsters can keep Boyce off the field, we'll be fine.

To whom it may concern, I don't wanna hear crap about Bowman being out. We've got injuries on defense, too.

I'm kinda surprised nobody else has mentioned this yet, but didn't that game winner by Humphrey remind anybody of the Crabtree play in 2008? Same end of the field, same corner, same catch around the five and having to make a move to get in the endzone.

I guess Flour bluff got his wish. Herman played it right, and turned LJH into Crabtree. Lol

Tech wasn't playing for a shot at a national title.

With little to no experience. There will be a season of growing pains.

And? We're currently going through grown pains with charcoal. I'd rather have growing pains with potential for improvement.

Davis and Boyd are better than most realize. You will see next year. All the exotic pass schemes and formations are bewildering for any first year player.

When Cook has been in for Davis I haven’t seen a whole bunch of drop off. Yes he’s given up some plays but so has Davis.

Who gives a shit!! We are 7-3 and could easily be 9-1. I cannot stand some of you idiots on the board with the coulda woulda shoulda bullshit! We are 7-3 and we finally have a quarterback. Tom Herman is exceeding expectations in my opinion. He is recruiting his ass off and has this program headed in the right direction. I’m so sick of idoits like you on this board that have nothing but negative stuff to say about this team!
