That seems to be ancillary to the point I made regarding religious violence. I think we all understand what is meant by religious people- those with a belief in and in worship of a higher power, specifically with the belief that they have a personal relationship with and worship the actual creator of the universe.

More people have been killed over a diety belief (in the complete history of the world) than for any other reason. But it's not like atheists are innocent either. Religious killings definitely led on the scoreboard in early human history.
But atheists closed the gap in the last 200 years.
People who believe in divine protection of a nation have been hoodwinked. Luckily none of these muzzy neighbors of theirs have nuclear arms or a military capable of defeating them. But it doesnt mean they are infallible. It wouldnt be the only contradiction in the bible

Well.... let's be fair-- Lenin and Stalin banned religion. And they punished those with death that defied those decrees. Now, an argument can be made that those that were dispatched were politicial opposition---- but that's a blurred line.
So has organized atheism. so has organized islam. Organization, civility and society in general will lead to advancements in education art and science. It's even easier when there arent any religious wars to fight too. if the muzzies werent so hell bent on eradicating the infidels, they could have had some nice contributions to the world over the last 1000 years. before the renaissance, the muslim world was quite advanced and had incredible math, and science and education. i don't now much about the art. but then they went full retard.
You can talk all you like about how people do good in the name of religion. I observe this all the time. It's a very human thing to do. That's why non religious people do nice things. it makes us feel good, we get a little dopamine rush when we do nice things for others.
That's a separate subject than the one we are having about people doing horrible things to people in the name of their religion.

I think these purges in china and russia were more about politics than religion. the politics of the day did look down on religion and saw that as anti communist and a threat to their power. They were more interested in the free exercise of their power than simply going after religion. More the sentiment is that it was just another victim of the communists.

But if china, russia, the us or even the uk went after them they wouldnt seem so protected, they have much more capable weaponry, militaries and navies than everyone else israel has fought.
