Because that is the basis for atheism. A-theism assumes no creator. It assumes something came from nothing. Sucks for them. Lots of people are gullible and willingly believe, and devote their lives to, bogus unprovable causes simply because they (are taught to) believe in it. Religion has a way of taking it a step further and elevating the cause to being worth more than life itself. not many atheist suicide bombers out there.
